Very different in most aspects other than the current used prices are quite similar right now.

I’ve had enough of all this doom and gloom, so I’ve decided that I’m going to start the new year with a ridiculous purchase and these two are my current shortlist

So my question to the PH community is; Has anyone had both, what they thought of them what are peoples opinions on which I should choose.

Very very different ownership propositions. Take a test drive at a main dealer (Hatfield would be ideal as the dealers are next to each other).

Chalk and cheese ,Never owned or driven either so not a lot of help to you in that matter but have owned a number of both front and mid engined

Ferrari's,the same applies to Lamborghini's,

I would say no contest , the 812 Super fast every time ,

Normally i would go mid engine whether a Ferrari or Lamborghini but the 812 is just a jewel of a car.

a modern day 275 GTB maybe,

Everyone seems to be sitting on the fence with the new model coming out but if anything if not

received well it could push the prices up on the low mileage 812's on offer at the time,

No doubt there will be a big price hike on the new model plus the usual waiting list to own the latest

and greatest from Ferrari .

If still undecided why not go the whole way and be totally reckless and buy both ,you can always sell the one

you like least at a later date , What a lovely problem to have and which ever one you buy i'm sure you will be happy with scratchchin

get the one that puts the biggest smile on your face, only you can answer that one, as they are so different

personally, i bought a tecnica and its due in very shortly smile

I owned an 812 for a year or so and regret selling it almost everyday - I'll have to have another sometime soon.
A fabulous car, a real sense of occasion every drive with an amazing engine.
You won't regret it.

Sorry, never owned a Lambo but my 812SF is the best supercar I’ve ever owned.
Had it 3 years now and just can’t see myself ever getting rid of it. Nothing Ferrari have made since even comes close. I’m sure the replacement will be superb but it’s likely going to be double the cost of a nice spec 812.
Try one and if you like it search out a lovely spec 1/2 owner car (ideally 2019 pre GPF) and it’s difficult to see how this won’t be a safe long term bet. It will feel hyperactive and quite a shock for the first hour or two behind the wheel. This is a vehicle that takes time to learn and the more you invest in it, the more smitten you will be.
amongst the last of its ilk (so is the Lambo I guess).

Very different
if you want to drive across Europe in style, or use daily, get the 812
If you want to blow your doors off, on a weekend blast where you won't get caught, buy the technica.
For me, F12 is peak v 812, but Technica is just peak. (except for usability, then it's a Sterrato)

So I test drove both, back to back on the same day. I was lucky enough to be lent a Tecnica demonstrator for a couple of days, and I think that may have had an influence in my final decision on which to buy.

I see people are commenting on the 812 buyers guide saying that the car is huge. It's not really and I found both cars very easy to drive around typical UK urban roads. The 812 really doesn't feel big at all.

From a drivers perspective it's one of those cars that lives up to exactly what you expect. It's a great balance of ludicrous performance, great handing and everyday usability in terms of ride comfort and cabin noise. Clearly the engine dominates the experience. It's absolutely awesome. But it could be used daily and I wouldn't think twice about taking it for really long trips. It's got an absolutely huge boot!

The Tecnica was the one that surprised though. It's probably got the biggest contrast in its Jekyll and Hyde character than any other car I've driven. In Strada mode, it drives like any other dual clutch, modern sports car. The ride is on par with a 992 Carrera and the cabin noise perfectly acceptable for a conversation at motorway speeds. In comparison with 992 GT3, it's a limo in Strada mode.

In Sport or Corsa, it's an animal. I think it's got the loudest factory exhaust of anything I've ever driven. Taken to the red line, it's nuts fast, way quicker than my GT3.

In the end, I've left a deposit on a Tecnica. Not because it was better than the 812, it wasn't. I'm sure I'll buy a V12 Ferrari sometime in the future. But right now the appeal of something that offers such a split personality, from a marque I've never had before tipped the balance.

which one did you go for? color, specs, if you don't mind sharing

did you ask re slots

you will not tire of it, and that V10..... not just the exhaust, its that v10, and the sounds it makes varies through the rev range
