My car has a NavTrak but JBR Capital want a further tracker
Discussion
I'm privately selling a 6 figure car to a buyer who's financing through JBR Capital.
My car has a Vodafone Navtrak which is fully operational. I've had a call from a company called Global Telemetrics asking to arrange a time tomorrow to come and fit the new tracker. I said my car already has a tracker, but apparently JBR Capital want to fit something more.
The buyer has not paid for the car yet, so should I let someone cut into my wiring loom before purchase?
What about the JBR tracker is superior to my Navtrak?
Will an additional tracker increase parasitic drain?

Had the same circumstances on a couple of cars I sold through dealers on SOR that the owner funder with JBR.
My understanding is the trackers are for JBR's use to locate the vehicle if the owner defaults on the agreement, nothing to do with theft recovery, and they insist on fitment before the new owner takes possession.

I wouldn't let them touch the car until the full amount has been paid to you. If the financier wants to hold the vehicle after payment to fit the tracker, that's their business. Accidents do happen, and if the buyer pulls out after the tracker installer has screwed up, who's going to be losing out? You are.
This is a known issue with JBR Capital financing cars, see previous cases below:

I have the sense plenty of other people have been in your situation. Depends how much you trust JBR, and how confident you are of selling the car to someone else if you say no to this deal, I think.

JBR put their own tracker on my old car when i bought it too. Standard practice for them imho and I believe to stop people tracking them without telling. My car has a Vodafone Navtrak which is fully operational. How does that work? Does this mean JBR Capital can monitor the usage of cars before they own them ? And also after the borrower has sold? This seems a tad invasive?TX.
The purchaser is collecting in 3 weeks. JBR want to install the tracker now. If I accidentally exceed the speed limit will JBR Capital have this information?
In this case the client had an email from JBR halfway through a trackday asking 'I see you're at a track, could you send us a copy of your trackday insurance?'. It wasn't in fact preventing the customer from doing trackdays, just requiring the financed asset be insured. However some finance agreements apparently do prohibit track use.

Wow. That's quite a lot of information gathering.I took this from their website:
Geo-location Data
Geo-location data is a record of where a vehicle, phone, or other device is at any given moment.
Geo-location data can also relate to the acceleration experienced by that vehicle, phone or other device.
If Geo-location data is gathered for a period of time it can be used to show where that vehicle, phone or other device has been, the direction it was travelling and the time when it made those journeys.
