I've been attending this since around 2014 - apart from one year when my 360 engine had self destructed. It was one of the highlights of the year for me.

Sad to receive an email yesterday saying that - due to rising energy costs etc. - they have revised which fundraising events they run, and the supercar weekend no longer makes the cut. I don't know the numbers, but I suspect it became less profitable after moving away from Dunsfold.

It's a real shame - it was for an excellent cause, and was a really fun event. In my "should I / shouldn't I" buy another Supercar this year, events like this were a big plus in my deliberations.

RIP frown

It’s a shame it ever moved from Dunsfold, don’t think it felt the same after that.

Wings and wheels was also a reasonable event there, but scrapped for cost reasons from memory.

Always look forward to this event, best day of the year.
I wonder if everyone was to pay for their own lunch and donated 100 pounds to the childrens trust to drive this would help bring back this event?

I must admit, I thought similar. You'd think there would be ways to make it a bit more profitable.

But perhaps they're very far away from it making sense for them, and that would just be a small drop.

I can't find anything called "Dad'd Day Out" in recent years. Is this in reference to "The Supercar Event" that has taken place in Goodwood in July the last few years?

Yes (I think it was called Dads Day Out a long time ago, although I may be confusing that with something else)

It was called Dad's day out, supported it for years but last couple clashed with being away.

It's a big shame it's come to an end

That is a real shame. I've been there the last few years and it seemed really well attended. Last year they even expanded it to be a 2-day event, and they made some changes to the organisation at Goodwood so it ran more smoothly. it was definitely one of the days I looked forward to in the summer.

Sad times and for me gutted it has ended.

Was involved in the event since day one and have seen it grow and grow. Covid changed the world and many businesses, charities and organisations just cannot do the things they used to prior to Covid.

I cannot thank enough everyone who has been involved in any capacity of the event as we managed to raise after cost over £865,000 which is an incredible amount of money which has changed many children at The Children's Trust lives.

Any idea how far out we are from making the event happen again? It really was brilliant to fund such a good cause in such a way having done it for many years.

We don’t need the coffees and lunches and discounted petrol. If we all chipped in some reasonable amount on top would that help?

It’s a shame that places like dunsfold will be developed - we will have precious little left for these important gathering places.

Excellent.

Maybe buying my car last weekend wasn't such a bad idea wink

Mind you. I'm wondering where this 'discounted' petrol was!

Oh excellent, make it happen! smile This used to be their biggest fundraiser, it would be great to get it back on track (see what I did there?)

We’d be given a discount code in the email about the day, which we could use when refilling at a specific local petrol station.

What’s the update on this, are we any closer to getting this event back on track?

We have some chats with a few people, nothing firm yet. Going to have a meet up with Rich, Mal and Mark and let everyone know. But we are keen to get something going.
