LaFerrari prototype

Took a New Year walk and ended up passing the Solihull Ferrari dealership.... I think im pretty good on cars but hadnt a clue.... Its not the prettiest of things - the track windows, strange proportions and "unfinished" look had me wondering.... Bad pic thru the window:

All in all, a very rare car! Does anyone have any more info?

I'm pretty sure there was one in Carrs in Exeter about 4 years ago - apparently a prototype hybrid power unit in it, but limited to some ridiculously low speed and not road legal, although I suspect the buyer could get around at least one of those issues.

There is an article on it in this year’s Ferrari yearbook (not read the article yet but I believe they did sell the prototypes to special customers)
