Hi guys,

I'm relocating from Canada to London in July for work and will make the UK home for the next few years. I hold a British passport (my Father was born in the UK) but I haven't lived in the UK and I was wondering if I will be able to obtain insurance for a supercar and if it's even possible?

I'm 35+, driving since 16, no tickets, no accidents and have excellent credit history. I am looking to buy a supercar in the 285-300 range.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You'll probably struggle especially if you have no supercar experience but a real specialist might help eg https://mwasr.com/about/ - look for brokers with experience on footballers and/or banned drivers

As the chap above suggested you want the broker that places business for premiership footballers - lots of these guys are immigrants with no UK driving experience plus (presumably) younger than you making them even bigger risks. But somebody's insuring them. See this dealer

https://premiersportssolutions.com/

Seems they sell to a lot prem footballers. Phone them up and ask who their clients insure with.

Gonna be a hefty premium if you do find someone to insure you...possibly 5 figures if the cars worth 250k!

Thank you for the suggestions. I will reach out to the companies listed above and see what they can offer me.

Btw, I had a question about VAT and pricing. My understanding is car prices include the VAT so the price I see listed is what I pay?

In general UK consumer prices include vat - there's always exceptions who typically show vat as an extra eg car servicing labour

my FF in Germany is insured via Allianz as they did not require any driving experience / no claims bonus etc. It was not cheap though, from memory c. €6k with a €10k deductible on a €330k new price and €180k purchase price at the time. Driver limitation was from memory that all drivers needed to buy 25+ years old, but no named drivers or similar. Possibly something comparable available from them in the UK.

and just to add, my Scuderia was insured via Ferrari Financial Services - a bit cheaper and lower deductible, but overall similar model. Needed to take Ferrari Finance to be able to get the insurance though
