Supercar convey yesterday in Sussex
Discussion
Thought I'd try this on here as it didn't raise any response in the GG section....
Ok so were any of you lot out on a supercar run yesterday morning about 8 am in West Sussex?
If you were amongst the Bunch that drove past my house at breakfast time your cars must be absolutely filthy.
Great to see you and it was a huge surprise and I can only imagine you ended up on this road by mistake. I'm wondering if the lead car in the convoy was following his sat nav and everybody regretted following him.
I was just tucking into my croissant when I heard what I thought was a motorbike coming up the road and looked out of the window to see a Porsche 911 probably a gts I think. It was followed by about 14 other supercars mainly Porsches but including several McLaren's at least one very nice Ferrari and a couple of Aston Martins.
What made this event remarkable is that I live on probably the sttiest wettest unkempt road in the county. It is a 3 mile singletrack windy Lane with with passing places. It is rarely dry and always muddy pretty much between October and April. If you meet anything in this lane most of the passing places are only usable in the summer and in the winter they are treacherous If You Drop A wheel into them. I feel sorry for these guys if they met anything coming the other way because they patently couldn't all reverse and quite often any other vehicles will be horse lorries or farmers with sheep trailers coming in the opposite direction.
To make it worse at the point they came up the lane yesterday there had been a a significant rain shower just before. Our bit of the lane is on a hill and all the rainwater flows down the lane like a river which they were driving through as they went past my house. These glorious cars which I guess had been well polished the day before the big trip out must have been absolutely disgusting by the time they made it to the End of the Lane and onto another Main Road.
To make matters worse when they get to the top of the hill they needed to go down the other side which is so incredibly lumpy and bumpy that there are scrape marks in the middle of the road where it catches the bottom of most cars, even my Subaru Forester and my Volvo V60.
So well done guys whoever you are are it made my day seeing you all yesterday morning and I doubt I will see the like again as long as I live here.
I'm guessing that all of these cars will be back at the detailers for most of this week getting polished up again.
The lane in question is between Haslemere and Midhurst and skirts around Blackdown. So perhaps these cars were on their way to Goodwood for breakfast and got lost or followed the sat nav or maybe had to take a diversion because of a closed Road. I doubt they will come along here in a hurry again not even in the summer let alone when the road is covered with mud and torrents of water.
Top marks all for using these supercars despite them not being set up for this type of rallying.
