Best buy around 100k?
Discussion
have a 570s atm been a lovely car just too muted for me sound wise and dont wanna mess with with due to warranty and potential issues etc . Have a very mixed set of options im currently debating , one is the manual route of exige 410 or cayman gt4 the other being ferarri FF amg gtr or possibly vanquish although I think the vanquish may be a bit too soft for me . Is dropping 100k on a 10 year old ferarri a good idea ? How much is the power 15 warranty and is it actually any good ?
The warranty covers the big items auch as engine and gearbox, but does not cover a lot of other stuff. I think it is c 4K euros per year.
FF is lovely but more of a daily than a weekend car, so not sure it works as a replacement for a McLaren
I think a 997 GT3 might be a good option - more special engine than the 4, manual, feels special imo

718 GT4 a great package at the money. Obvs not a GT3 in terms of involvment and rapidity but almost as fast in real world road driving which at £150k plus for the GT3 is 60% more expensive but the GT4 does have a superb and bespoke 8k engine particularly suited to the sublime 'manuel' gearbox being one of Porsches finest.
With 981 GT4s still selling at way over list up to early £80ks for a 7 year old 20k miler decent spec its free motoring too.
Other option ls the Emira Lotus will soon be closing order books for the FE 3.5 V6 manual/auto at £80k for 60 week delivery arriving March 2023 promises to be a fantastic car if not quite a GT4 for driver involvement but arguably slightly better looking.

At £100k I would be straight into a 650S or even a 12C with some change, I know you have a 570s but I think the P11 cars just have a bit more about them. Having said that I sold my 12C 4 years ago, as I wanted a manual, and replaced with an Exige 350, that was soon replaced with a 430CUP and a 981 Spyder. As good as the 981 Spyder was it was no match for the 430CUP (which i still have) and was replaced after 12 months with a 675LT. I have no Ferrari experience (apart from 2 years with an F355) as they just don't float my boat, If its a driving experience you are after you won't do better than a 430CUP and its within your budget. If you want an all round great car for daily use a 650S.

sure that sounds great, but to get that you have to spend about 10% (or more I suspect) of the car purchase price to then have a car that is no longer road legal in most European countries [I suspect incl. the UK]Standard FF sounds great, but not close to that car

One of the very reasons I've avoided Mclaren ownership, driven 570S, 600LT and 720S. The performance is staggering, the handling also incredible but I always came away feeling not that excited or thrilled, I also found them very subdued at under 100mph on the road which meant driving within speed limits was very boring from a driving engagement factor.I went the Ferrari route but went with a 458 which I know is out of your budget which is unfortunate as out of all the super cars I drove it was able to function fine as a daily driver but when in race mode is such an engaging and fun car to drive, even within the speed limits, it can do the really fast stuff too but you just don't need to do so in order to get your kicks of fun as to speak. I've had it three years now, no issues and no plans on selling, the sound is also incredible as is the 9000rpm limit. So maybe consider something like an F430 or FF as they sound incredible and are also great fun drives without the need to drive like a prat. Just try to buy Ferrari authorised for the 2yr warranty to cover any big ticket items, particular on the FF, the F430 are somewhat simpler and as such plenty of specialist can work on them.
I also own an Exige 410 20th Edition, which is hugely entertaining, it can become tiring on the road though, it is a very manual driving experience, heavy manual steering, always noisy from engine and tyre noise but if its a weekend toy and not your daily the Exige is one hell of a car and huge fun, it is also sensation on the track, I find it more fun to drive on circuit than a GT3 or GT4, a little quicker than a GT4 and slower than a GT3 but more engaging. Also incredibly cheap to run by comparison and generally very reliable.
A Porsche is not a bad option, I've got an old 987.2 Spyder, which I absolutely love, such a beautiful fun and engaging road car, more engaging than the newer 981 and GT4's hence why I got it, but lacking a little in fire power compared to newer stuff, but the steering been hydraulic and the physical size is perfect for hussling down a back road.
As such if you want newer I would highly recommend a 718 Spyder, essentially a GT4 with no roof, if sound is however really important then get a 981 GT4 as the 981 series is the best sounding.
P.S. Also maybe get a deposit down for a Lotus Emira, probably going to be one of the last best ICE cars ever produced for engagement and fun, hydraulic steering, manual gearbox and V6 sound track should make for one epic car.

600LT boring too? Hmmm.
458 wouldnt know which way it had gone and I'm not sure if scuttle shake equals more feel in a ferrari spider. Each to their own at the end of the day but the days of ferrari having a monopoly are well and truly over IMHO.
Been downhill since the F355 sadly and nothing in their range even vaguely appeals to me TBH.
Dont get me wrong tge 458 isn't a bad car but the hype surrounding last N/A ferrari sports car and inflated prices makes no sense to me for a mass produced vehicle and that includes the 3500 speciales

I was talking 458 Italia by the way and having 200k to spend and driving 570S, 600LT, 720S, 458, 488, F8, Huracan, Performante, GT3 RS for me personally the 458 was the one, it was alive at 50-60mph, its not a grip monster or stupidly fast but the short gearing DCT box, the sound for me made it an easy winner. I wanted a coupe so it was easy.
If I was going Spider then absolutely the Mclarens shine here as the Ferrari's absolutely do have scuttle shake, whereas the Mclaren roof down is fantastic and superior to most other convertible supercars on the market. GT3 RS I did love it but 458 pipped it for me on road fun factor, on track however GT3 RS all day long.
Everyone likes different things, but for me Mclaren do nothing for me, they sound woeful and all are kind of similar, if I was to buy one it would be the 600LT for the cool exhaust outlets, but compared to Ferrari there is no comparison for me, the Ferrari's look better, sound ten times better and the older ones are just a more joyful experience, I went 458 because it was the car that to drive properly excited me, followed by the Performante and GT3 RS. Three years later I still own it and still love it.
But 458 aside its out of budget of the OP just mentioned it as some examples are available, but a FF is a good shout if noise and theatre is top of the agenda, a V12 will always win at that.
I must add the 488 and F8 also do nothing for me, found them pretty boring also to drive on the road. Faster does not always mean better!

any chance you have a 355?! The 355 is a pretty car that sounds lovely but, come on Rambo, to say Ferrari have gone downhill since then is just rubbish.
458 is the best car since F355 but 360, F430, 488 and F8, I'm sorry I stick to my original comment. I haven't had a new Ferrari for 5 years and wanted to try and get back into the brand so I had a F8 spider for a weekend test drive Friday to Monday and sadly gave it back to them by saturday lunchtime.
It was a little embarrassing explaining to the kind dealer that I really didn't rate it at all but they did actually say to me they already knew I wouldn't like the sound.
What I would congratulate Ferrari on though was the lack of turbo lag. It was only just noticeable in certain conditions if you were really looking for it and your average punter would have no idea it was a Twin turbo. That was quite impressive but apart from that it was pretty meh TBH
I went through a similar process as the OP recently, selling my much-loved 570s last year after 4 very enjoyable and problem free years of ownership.
I’m not a Porsche fan so 911’s were off the menu, so the plan was to buy a Ferrari, preferably once the current price spike had past! Looking at F12 or 488 in maybe 12 to 18 months time. Being impatient, and realising that F12 would remain out of financial reach and that 488’s really offered very little more than the similarly priced 600LT. I looked at older 599 and 458’s but given that I’d avoided any big bills through my McLaren ownership, and that I like to use my car rather than simply collect them the prospect of crippling costs associated with carbon brakes, clutches, or other such failures on a 15 year old Ferrari sent me off on a tangent.
The replacement for my 570s is another twin-turbo V8, not as fast but certainly just as usable, better sounding and given the options on the one I bought, an identical £150k list price when new. Let’s see how I get on with the new V8 Vantage
