What are people putting down as deposits on new order Lamboghini's? Trying to order an Urus for the wifey and they all seem to want a £25k deposit and an estimated delivery at the end of 2023 early 2024. Are people really throwing £25k at a car and then forgetting about their money for 2 years or so? rolleyes

Seems to make no sense as yes the Urus is currently selling above list but £20-25k overs gets you in to a 6 month old car so may as well pay overs and get in to one now rather than wait 2 years? Seems strange.

Sounds about right. I was asked for £30k on a STO and £25k on a EVO RWD recently so seems to be a 10% deposit down and a min 9 month wait.

A deposit is only a deposit so not sure it makes sense to blow £25k on overs unless you are desperate to get one, personally I would rather rate than just write off £25k. £25k is a decent paper round these days

That amount sounds correct, I suppose it dissuades those that aren’t that serious or just speculating.
Mind you, you’re not going to make much on that if you invest it at the moment either..

IMO I am shocked how little they ask for.l would be asking for half the money with order, half on delivery

Don't think you would sell many on those terms.
10% more than adequately covers their exposure

I dont know of any car manufacturer that does what you suggest. Would be pretty hard to sell a car if that was true as many people rely on finance to buy cars.

Initially, Tesla was asking for 100% on the new roadster with delivery due in 2018. They dropped it to 50%, and refunded half to those who'd put in the 100% but it's still years off.

Used to be 5k V8/V10 and 10k V12 and then balance of 10% upon submitting order to spec.

If you know dealer well they don't require deposits at all until actually finalising spec and ordering which is about 3 month before delivery.

Does not surprise me in a buoyant market that they are asking big money to weed out those not serious and who would cancel and want their money back at the first sign of a car not holding or even losing money. They want orders completed and have a choice of clients currently. It's a different game now with the way prices are potentially increasing.

If you want the car it's a timescale issue rather than money one, thats a very long time quoted and its a dangerous game to predict where the prices and timescales will go when supply catches up. There are a lot of them already and direct competitors coming to market and I'm genuinely astonished the 200k+ market for SUV's is large enough to support it if they ever start losing money again.

Thanks Topjay, I guess the big spenders can get an allocation without a deposit. Useful info to know.
