First of all thanks to everyone for help on the "lower end of the Mclaren market" discussion I started, I don't have the funds to buy direct from the manufacturer and the garages I messaged about an inspection either refused or didn't reply.
I have switched my attention to early R8 V10's and would appreciate opinions on these 2 cars:

The white car has the 2 year Audi warranty which would be a great selling point as I only want to keep it a year, The Sepang Blue is the better looking car but only has 12 months third party warranty, I appreciate they are sports cars and not super cars but would welcome any input.
Thanks
Andy

The Sepang one would be my choice. Its only slightly higher mileage than the white one but a good saving cost wise. With the money saved you could put an Audi warranty on it if you wished and still be in front.

I was thinking of asking for the alloys to go back to original

The Sepang car also has the carbon interior. It’s a very nice thing to have on these cars.

Agreed, plus with the extended leather /stitching it really sets apart the higher spec cars from the many out there with just basic spec/no carbon blades

Yeah it pains me to say I sold it shortly after for a little more when I took delivery of my 650S

I won’t mention the 25k mile R8 GT Spyder I bought for £58.5k in January….

Crazy to think how cheap cars were only at the beginning of this year

Is it worth making a bid on the car?

At those prices I would go for the facelift grey Spyder with Capristo

The V10 is simply awesome, but the R-tronic transmission is not. I would spend a little more and find an S-tronic Spyder, it will make your ownership and driving experience that much better smile honestly!

Gearbox choice really is down to the driver - some love the R-tronic, others don't. Try them all and make your own choice!

I have bought it now so will report back, I'm not the must committed driver so I'm sure it will suit me

Congratulations.

I believe the tip to make the R-tronic work is to lift off acceleration just before changing. You'll definitely be engaged!

Congrats on getting the car.

To expand a little further on Reece's advice when using the R-tronic, a small lift on the throttle just before changing is all that's required to make for much smoother gear changes. No need to lift off completely.

That’s a fair point Reece, but if we are honest it’s more a case of getting used to and driving around the R-tronics shortcomings. I’m not anti automated single clutch manuals, I loved my V8 Vantage S Sportshift, but unfortunately hated the R8’s R-tronic. Despite the might of Audi this was not a transmission to be celebrated, but their current dual clutch system is simply amazing and probably the best out there.

Having said this I appreciate if you always drive it like a manual and lift a tad on upshifts you get used to it and that wonderful V10 is so fabulous with the roof down, nothing else matters smile OP you will love that screaming beast of an engine, ensure you drive roof down everywhere biggrin

Guys, the car has passed its MOT but they have advised rear discs, am I correct in insisting the MOT is advisory free, I am motor trade but do not sell cars of this value, all my cars have advisories taken care of
