2030: How will the prestige sports ICE car market hold up?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Do you have any thoughts on how the ICE prestige sports car market will hold up, as we move towards 2030, with manufacturers moving to electric vehicles?
I'm sure high end blue chip cars and high end competition cars will do just fine, e.g. McLaren F1, F40, etc.
However I'm not so sure about mass produced ICE prestige cars, e.g. 458, 488, modern 911s etc.
Any thoughts would be gratefully received.
Thank you and best wishes

Am sure your crystal ball is as good as mine, but my thoughts, since you asked:
But many people nowadays prefer public transport (though C-19 has massively impacted this I he short term; whether a long term trend is impossible to tell yet) and many younger people are not learning to drive. In addition, if the roads continue to get clogged up at an increasing rate, then there may be many fewer opportunities to actually drive them along freely.
Which bodes less well.
Personally, I think there will be enough space and enough enthusiasts to keep good ICE cars going for many many years, but then I'm part of the brigade that like and enjoy them. But so do my kids, and I[m sure they'll find spaces to enjoy them responsibly. And I'm also driving cars from 60 years ago, and enjoying them too.....
- cars like this are bought by enthusiasts, and all the time that there are enthusiasts, there will be a market for them
- EVs offer different experience, so there's little overlap in the market
