570S vs Audi R8 V10
Discussion
HI All,
Hope its ok to put this in this category. Tempted to change my car soon and get into a 570S or a Audi V10 both spiders/spyders 2018+.
Has anyone had experience of both by any chance?
In all likelyhood I would probably end up owning one first then a couple of years later buying the other to experience both but would be nice to get some experiences people have had on them.
Thanks in advance

Thank you for your reply. Can I ask how you find the sound of the 570S?
Unfortunately, nothing sounds as good as a NA V10 screaming away behind you. Saying that, the 570S is acceptable on stock and once you drive one all will be forgiven. Personally, I'm starting to care less about the noise nowadays, esc. after owning PHEVs/EVs. I suspect my next SC will be of that ilk anyway so the 570S is a gentle lead into silence It all depends on what the car will be used for. If its a daily driver, then the R8 is the car for you, as it will be more reliable, and cost you much less to run, less mileage sensitive, and should something go wrong, your local Audi dealer is just round the corner. I also suspect that the residuals will be stronger in the R8 because of all the above.
If its a weekend toy/track car, then go for the 570s

In my eyes the king of this sector is the 911 turbo/turbo s. So ask yourself why you don’t want one. The 911 is quicker and a hugely capable car and ownership cost is overall cheaper as they hold their price well. You can drive it fast and not break a sweat. It’s also a 911 and rarely gabs people’s attention. The R8 is probably it’s closest rival. It’s fast and comfortable has that sweet v10 for those times you want to be a bit showy. It’s reliable and overall cost isn’t too bad. Personally I feel the Mac let’s itself down on reliability, ownership cost and build quality. It’s only selling points are fancy doors, it stands out and it feels like a fast Elise. But just like the lotus it will spend time getting issues resolved and depreciation on them looks a little step.
So if you find the 911 bland and a little too easy to drive fast but you like the fact it can go about it’s busy incognito then the r8 is the car for you. If you want to be a little bit more flamboyant and you can handle the car being away getting another issue resolved then get the Mac.
I’ve been on runs with a bunch of super cars and in the real world, on public roads there isn’t much between all of them.

R8 Plus for me. The V10 is out of this world. The McLaren doesn't do anything for me personally.
Indeed...don't think you've mentioned your dislike of Mclaren before.I had a Gen 1 V10 plus and the engine is orchestral but the 570S is quite a bit more special to drive and to look at.

The R8 (and the 911 Turbo) win on practically and usability, where the 570s adds a splash of drama which comes at an extra cost. All are brilliant at what they do, all are plenty fast enough, and if you buy a bad one of any you’ll hate it very quickly.
My 570s has been pretty much faultless over the last 4 years but I’m not blind to the very real issues some owners have had, but saying that my A4 daily hasn’t been fault-free either.
OP you really have to drive both if you’re undecided, you have to see if the V10 wins over the twin-turbo V8, whether the perfect driving position in the 570s compensates for its primitive cabin, whether the understated looks of the R8 make it feel sufficiently special, but mainly which makes your heart flutter the most.
For me, after 4 years of real-world 570s ownership, it would be the McLaren without hesitation but I do get why others would disagree.

Its just my opinion. Other opinions are available.
Tested both recently and i’d say 570s as the car itself is more of an experience but like others have said, that comes at a cost, 911 & R8 are safe players which fit with daily use better, but i’d take a 911 over the R8 and i dont even like 911s!
The R8 was the most disappointing car ive driven in a long time, i actually ended up with a GTC which had far more character than the 570 or R8.

There’s loads of reviews online about the two cars. There’s loads of drag racing videos. Usual detractors and supporters on PH will pipe up and tell you how they loath or hate them.
There’s one thing for sure though - when you grab the key fob with the McLaren logo embossed in it and pop the billionaire doors open, you will feel like a rockstar in a real supercar. Before I bought a McLaren (I’ve had 2), I drove the usual suspect Audi’s, Porsche’s and Lambo’s, but none of them had the same grin-factor as the Mac. On the head-turn-o-meter, the Mac wins the day.

You've been on PH 2 months yet you are aware of the usual suspects 'who loath' them. There’s one thing for sure though - when you grab the key fob with the McLaren logo embossed in it and pop the billionaire doors open, you will feel like a rockstar in a real supercar. Warning: Light blue touch paper and stand well back. Something I said irritated you?Which banned McLaren owner are you?
I see through you, that's all.
I'm sure others do too.
I’d get the r8 now, big engined NAs are at there end so take the opportunity to run one while you can. In a couple of years there will still be lots of turbo/ hybrid options for you.
Plus from an ownership perspective financially I’d say a R8 vs a McLaren is a lot easier to swallow if this is your starting point.
