Has anyone had experience of both? Im considering a manual DBS but cant help looking at the 8 speed Vanquish. I have one manual car already but really want to own and experience a V12 manual. But, the vanquish is so gorgeous and I just cant help but think I could own one for very similar money.

Any opinions welcome, thanks.

To add, Im aware the DBS is obviously more dated in terms of interior/tech and is apparently a harsh ride. Any other insights would be helpful.

Depending on what your other manual car is, also consider the manual V12 Vantage (in regular or S). It makes a great companion to something larger and is really a bit silly shoehorning that engine into that car.

I already had a Vanquish S when I went looking for a manual and decided that the DBS was both too similar and a bit more dated and ended up with a V12VSM. The Vantage may show its age vs newer competition (but not in my opinion the new model). You’ve got the 6 vs 7 and non-S vs S debate on those. Best would probably be a hybrid of the two... I’m yet to be convinced that the dogleg 7 box is an improvement over an easier to navigate 6 (caveat by saying that I’ve yet do do 1k miles in mine due to lockdowns) but some of the other S enhancements make a difference. S version is rare in manual (around 100 in the UK) and seems to be holding up well price wise.

The Vanq is great, better for long journeys and surprisingly practical (height of front end aside). Drive mine mostly on the paddles and it’s still a rewarding experience. Don’t discount 6 speed Vanquishes, but do consider stretching a bit for an S if you can live with the limited ground clearance at the front.

Having done the usual PH thing of basically ignoring your original question of should I buy x or y and talking about z, I’ll briefly get back on topic and say that out of the three (DBS, V12 Vantage, Vanquish), I could only choose one it’d be the Vanq, preferably in S spec, and preferably Volante.

Btw, may be better off posting in the Aston section to get a few more views/opinions as none of these are supercars... wink

Thank you for your response. My manual is a 911 RSR recreation/restomod, ticks all the boxes but isnt what Id call the ideal car for 'date night' lol. Lovely as it is. My budget has to stop at £100k due to an imminent house move so no man maths on this occasion. This rules out the S I think. The Vantage is too small for what I need as I want a proper GT I can do a couple of weeks camping in Europe if I fancy it. Ideally Id be looking for a 2+2 which gives me the option to throw one of the kids in the back if desperate!

Im not asking for much am I!!!!?

P.S Ive moved the thread to the Aston section. Cheers.
