Audi R8 5.2 V10 PLUS QUATTRO Coupe - Pricing / negotiating
Discussion
Hi Folks,
There seems to be an endless (and increasing) supply of R8 V10+ cars available with asking price circa £80,000 retail. How much is it realistic to expect off this asking price from a dealer?
Maybe not fair to compare, but I've been reliably informed the actual dealer selling prices for Ferrari F355 and F430 is typically circa £10,000 below asking prices. Asking prices have not budged since Covid 19 as dealers try in vain to control the market.
Any insight, experience or thoughts much appreciated.

I don't think you've been as reliably informed as you think (unless you're talking about SOR / non-official Ferrari dealers - and even then I'd be amazed if that was true).Edited by davek_964 on Friday 9th October 13:59
I purchased a 2017 R8+ back in May for £84,000, with only 9k on the clock, still under main dealer warranty, and in a rare colour with every option ticked. I personally think that was great value. I'm sure if they have had the car a few months you will be able to get a few off, I couldn't really negotiated on mine as found out they was getting it before he had even taken it into stock.

Unequivocal, first hand, albeit from non-official Ferrari dealer in South East.Edited by davek_964 on Friday 9th October 13:59

I agree they look a tremendous proposition. Have you enjoyed your ownership? What are the "must have" resale options to have? Are there any colours to avoid for resale?Vroom2 said:

Maybe I am a total mug but I didn't get a penny off my old F430 when buying from a Ferrari dealerMaybe not fair to compare, but I've been reliably informed the actual dealer selling prices for Ferrari F355 and F430 is typically circa £10,000 below asking prices. Did the warranty transfer OK? When I was looking at Gen1s a few years ago this was a sticking point. Be interesting what happens come renewal.Chrisatronic said:

Having just bought a 360 from a dealer and looked at 430's I would say that this is not true. They seem to prefer to hold the cars in this slow market rather than take a massive hit.Maybe not fair to compare, but I've been reliably informed the actual dealer selling prices for Ferrari F355 and F430 is typically circa £10,000 below asking prices. I also looked at R8 V10's and Lotus Evora - the movement on price for all of them was low. Best I could do was £3k off the asking for a £65k R8 V10+ (I then decided that the R8 looks really didn't do it for me)

Main dealer pricing is tightly controlled. I'd suggest you wouldn't get anywhere trying to get £10k off a main dealer F355 or F430.I'm not sure I'd call their control of market "in vain", they have been doing it for years and they have become exceedingly efficient at it, to coin the Matrix.
Negotiating with Ferrari main dealers is hard work. I managed to get them to move £2500 on a 458 a couple of years ago, but it took a couple of weeks.
From specialists you will generally get more movement and private purchases significantly more (you might see £10k with a motivated private seller, but don’t expect it to be the norm).
Audi will move, but again not a huge amount. Will depend how long they have had it. I wouldn’t expect more than £4000 at the moment. Next year things might start getting more interesting though ...

The niche car market can be odd
Earlier this year I tried to do a deal on an Evora 410 sport that had been for sale for 6 months. We ended up £1k apart on a £60k car. When we got stuck, I provided all of the comparable evidence, and I had already come up a bit, but the seller wouldn't budge. Another 4 months on and the car is still unsold. (all negotiation was through the dealer but it was a sale or return car)
I guess people don't always need to sell cars so will hold on for the price.
