I've always used Pirelli P Zeros and been perfectly happy with them but there are quite a few Pirelli haters on PH so see what other suggestions you get. I agree the run flats are horrid.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S has to be one of the best road tyres available at the moment imo.

I would go for Michelin Pilot Sports, IMO better than most equivalent Pirellis. Made a bid difference to my Evora and I wish I had them on the 360, but the dealer fitted Pirellis.

When I bought my 599 in 2007 it had 1500 miles and it had run flats - I had them off within a month. I kept them stored in my garage for years but once they’d got too old (and the mice had had a nibble) they went off to be recycled.

There might also be an element of what you can get hold of. When I last replaced my my tyres on the 599 I had to wait six months until Pirelli made a new batch. You may find the odd ones here and there but watch out for the manufacture date - some I found were two or three years old.

I used to be a big Pirelli fan on my BMWs but tyre tech has advanced since those days and the ones to get for your Ferrari are the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Switching from the P-Zero to the MPS4S on my FF has transformed the handling (which was prone to tramlining).

Agree a lot of hate for the Pzero. Previous versions were fine imo, found them great when new but grip seemed to go off a lot when half worn. The MPSS was better and more consistent performer.
I’ve been hugely impressed with the latest Pzero update on my 488 and prefer to the MPSS; it’s come on leaps and bounds. When I asked about the Michelin 4S was advised non approved and dealership wouldn’t fit when under factory warranty, obviously not an issue on older cars.

For all the love of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, I'm hoping for something better when tyre change time comes for my 599. I have the Michelins on my car... perhaps they are old stock, but I'm unimpressed - prone to tram-lining and pulling along road cambers, and they seem to slip to quickly before then gripping to create confidence.

Could be I'm a rubbish driver and/or I need to be forgiving of a 12 year old car, but I can't help feel the 550 and 575 I had years ago handled better and I've wondered if a tyre swap is the answer.

Apologies for my contradicting unscientific opinion. Probably not helpful to the OP when trying to make a bet on tyres.
