Hi,

I flew over from Dublin and picked up a Ferrari Testarossa in London today.

I’ve managed to park it in a friends car park space in Knightsbridge for the night, and I’m planning to head to the Cottswolds tomorrow for a few days before heading back to Ireland.

I really did not enjoy the 1001 speed bumps and narrow gaps I had to drive through today... neither did the car :-) (constantly changing through 1st and 2nd gear over the ramps... while keeping an eye on the coolant level).

Can anyone recommend a safer route out of Knightsbridge tomorrow, which heads towards the Cottswolds. I really don’t want to put the car through an hour of speed bumps and constant gear changes tomorrow :-)

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Head for the A40 (close by) which then becomes the M40. Watch out for cameras at the London end just as you get on.

From Knightsbridge (around Harrods) surely you are better off heading straight out on the A4 past Heathrow and then either along the M4 towards Swindon or around the M25 to the M40 and then M40/A40 depending on which part of the Cotswolds you seek

From Harrods to the A40 means messing with either the speed bumps in the park or up Park Lane and then back up towards Baker Street

Either work but to get to A40 all you have to do from Harrods is head up Park Lane...turn right by the Aston showroom..up Baker Street and the you’re on the Marylebone Road/A40. Don’t think there are any speed bumps that way.

A4->M4->M25->M40. Very straightforward, just a bit boring because of the average speed cams on the elevated section of the A4 and then again on the M4 from just past Heston services until you come off for the M25.

That's what I did every day for years. Down Park Lane, left at the end onto Bayswater Road, take a right before Queensway and onto the A40. I don't know if any speed bumps have been added recently but doubt it. Was always my quickest route out bypassing the A4 monotony.
