I'm potentially in the market for a 720s or Huracan Performante. However, I'm struggling to get an opportunity to be taken out in one (most garages seem to have them on SOR and reluctant to take them out) So thought I'd come on here and take the mickey, see if there are any owners out there who would consider taking me out in theirs. Another reason why I'm asking on here is I'd really like to talk to a real owner in person about the ownership experience.

I'm in Northamptonshire, but I'm happy to travel. In fact I have the day off tomorrow so if anyone is around tomorrow?........ smile

Have you tried Grange Lambo in Chelmsford? They have a few Perfs for sale at the moment and if they have one then I’m sure they would take you out?

As for ownership experience my 2019 Perf Spyder has not skipped a beat. No niggles, squeaks, misfires or warning lights, no need to claim on the warranty or go back to dealer at all since i got it almost 18 months ago, apart from a standard 12 month checkup. After coming out of an Audi R8 I was expecting it to be a bit of a diva, but it has been boringly reliable. I’ve driven both, a friend has the 720S and its a different proposition - amazing drive, light and open cabin with great visibility compared to the dark interior of the Performante with letterbox windscreen and rear view filled with huge forged carbon spoiler. But you can’t beat the Lambo for drama, that N/A V10 may go down as the best and last of its kind. They are such different cars - surely you must have a favourite?

Good luck with the search, I’m on hols currently so cant offer you a ride smile

try getting a test drive in absolutely anything atm, if you don't have a relationship with the dealer I've found it impossible

they are using corona as an excuse

I had this line yesterday on an AMG "your test drive will be your drive home sir" I walked away. When I found a car I could drive I bought it on the spot and took it home an hour later, that simple.

rant over!

I tried Chelmsford Lambo, all three Performante coupes sold. Went to see a 600LT and no test drive, wouldn’t even take me out in it stating Corona

All a very nice and helpful bunch @ Lambo Chelmsford - so much so I nearly bought their Orange carbon seated coupe but bottled it in favour of a green one. Stock on them is drying up so to see them all go is no surprise.

I was in your position for some time, both cars are not too dissimilar on paper however they do drive differently. Ones a TT V8 and another is a NA V10 and they exhibit these traits very obviously and you definitely need to try both to decide what you want.

2 bits of advise advise with either model is to not only try both but the spider variants too - these drive vastly different to the coupes and ultimately depends what you want - a track car or a track car with the extra weight so you can pop the roof down when you do a school/shop/hairdressers run.

Second bit of advice RE the Perf is try both carbon and comfort seats, again I found them vastly different with one of them feeling very disconnected from the car.

The 720S is a superb price right now however the Perf is a better car and is also a superb price. They both sit in the handful of cars which are supercar money for hypercar performance.

This stuff is often tricky if you don't have a relationship.

I went to Mclaren Hatfield and had a chat about a 720s. As I was leaving the dealer offered me the keys to the demonstrator for an hour. I didn't have to ask. I'd say if you seem serious and talk numbers/spec/options you're more likely to be offered.

Probably helps that I was visiting in a similarly bracketed car which may have pre-qualified me in their eyes?

Either way if you're in London/essex and want a passenger ride in one I'd be happy to help.

Is this a weekend/occasional use car? I would go with the Performante, always memorable to drive with that great engine.

I run both but 720 as a daily driver, which it better suits than HP as can be a more relaxing experience when you want it to be and better visibility/ergonomics.

I test drove and considered both, but went with the 720S and am glad I did.

Perf had an awesome soundtrack from its engine, but the 720S just beat it on everything else: performance, feel, steering, vision out, comfort, looks, lambo doors wink

Having said that, I will again consider a Lambo & Ferrari, when I come to replace my 720S. (Comparing the best competitors to 765LT.)
