If you want some one to transport your car I'd call either flat 6 logistics or regency car storage and transport. If you are looking to buy a covered transporter I'd recommend the Brian James race transporter 5. I have one for my cup car.

I have a twin axle Brian James Race Transporter 5. Easy to manoeuvre and big enough to take a McLaren 720S. The tilting bed makes loading and unloading a cinch.

I used Heaunique to have a car shipped from South of England to Munich

I have a Brian James RT6 - it is a bit big / wide, but overall fine and the size makes loading very easy (so far used it once)

I used Shiply.com to get a bunch of quotes when I needed a car transporting - worth giving that a go as they will connect you to a number of different providers from one request which saves time and hassle. I ended up using Arthur from Oxford Transport Solutions and was very happy with the service (and would use Arthur again when the need arises).

Can't speak for the others but Ash is a very decent guy and a true pro. Has a very good trailer to go with the expertise too.

I used Alex from Lizard a few years back for the Special to and from Spa. At the time he had quoted reasonably too.

It really depends on their schedules, empty legs etc etc.. you can land a decent price and then next time they quote it's completely off the charts. Best to have a list of reliable ones.

I have used Alex, EMR transport, Straight Eight logistics, Menabue/Menabetz (try the latter one, they are mainly Italian but they do back and forth all the time from Italy to the North of the UK, so you might be in luck and just hop-in on their way to Edinburgh with a shipment of brand new Maseratis, Ferraris and the likes..).

When I saw the title I thought of something I heard many moons ago, a Rolls Royce which breaks down, or as Rolls put it "Fail to proceed" rather than break down, were always covered when taken away.

Urban myth or not, don't know, but I like the term "Fail to proceed".
