Hi. Any advice/experiences shared appreciated. I'm considering a Litchfield tune (stage 1) for my '16 R8 (non plus). Many thanks.

Seems like a no brainer from what I can work out.

The engine and drive train is identical from what I can find out to the Plus so it is only a detuned Plus from factory anyway.

I have an APR tune on my 2010 V10 and at around £1k it was worth every penny. http://www.goapr.co.uk/products/ecu_upgrade_52fsi_...

Mine was installed by Ricky at RE Performance in Swindon who is definately the go-to-guy for R8's imo. http://reperformance.co.uk/

Ha well I was going to put that, but gathered Audi wouldnt Design the car to cope safely with 560bhp then add another 50....

I would definitely recommend talking to REPerformance about tuning your R8 as they specialise in that platform.

Anyone tried GAD tuning for mapping? Spoke to them today, really friendly and helpful, sounded like they knew their stuff. Stage 1 on a Gen 1 V10 for £1200. That gets you to a quotes 585bhp.

My first choice would have been APR but after they quoted £1200 I thought I’d test the rest of the market. Looks like that being the norm. Although I see Viezu have a V10 remap available quoting around £700 iirc

Thanks for the feedback. Litchfield's stage 1 costs £500+vat and a claimed 600bhp

I would be interested to know how they achieve that figure without exhaust and inlet mods.

Is it not just a case of opening up existing hardware?

Similar to what they did with the old E63 and C63 ... Same engines but Mercedes couldn't have the C63 out perform the E class so just de tuned same engine and squeezed it in the C class ... a re-map just opened it up to same levels of power

The Generation 1 V10 and Generation 2 non Plus models have their power capped by the factory via means of the fly-by-wire throttle. This is achieved by restricting the throttle butterflys to 75 percent of fully open. They did this so as not to compete directly against the Gallardo/Huracan. An ecu tune starts by changing this to give 100 percent throttle and then other parameters such as AFR, timing, etc are adjusted to suit. These mods usually give around 50-55 bhp - so a total of 570-575 (gen 1) 590 (gen2). To see further gains you need to start replacing components such as exhaust, induction, etc.

@Trev450, makes sense is what I’ve read also.

Think Ricky Elder offers this and I’ve always heard good things about their services.

Another +1 for Ricky - I make a 3 1/2 hour round trip to Ricky’s to get my R8 serviced by him.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, Ricky installs the APR tune. He is a 2 hour drive for me but I wouldn't take it anywhere else for this or any other work to be done.
