I was on Carwow yesterday, getting a quote for a R8 and got the following message "This Audi R8 has recently been discontinued, so these are offers on brand new cars in-stock." As anyone else heard this?

Do you think this will have an effect on residuals of pre-face lift 16/18 cars?

Doesn't surprise me, but unfortunately I imagine they have concluded that they will concentrate the brand on the passenger car market and let others in the VAG world take the fight to Ferrari etc - shame as I love mine and I'm not really that interested in the market value impact as I don't intend to sell it, but I can see there might be those who would be worried.

Interesting!

Just tried it on the Carwow website and there wasn't any message about the R8 being discontinued. However I do feel that the long term future for the R8 is uncertain, given that the Mk3 Audi TT is not being replaced.

Re Gen 2 pre-facelift values, they are still depreciating today but who knows what will happen in the future. It's hard to know how things will look like at the end of this year, let alone five years from now.

Might be a sales point by car wow.

I can imagine it been a good thing for future values, makes it more appealing know it might be your last chance to own one. Especially pre-face lift that haven't been muted by EU sound regulations.

I own a Gen 1 Audi R8 GT with an aftermarket Quicksilver exhaust making the appropriate V10 noise. Never ever selling my car!

It was canned around this time last year, along with the TT.

I assume we’ll still get an Audi version of whatever V6 Hybrid replaces the Huracan, but under a different name.

I periodically get that message, it's when a manufacturer changes option specification requirements I think, I just priced one up now and it's still available.

Earliest R Tronic cars are falling pretty rapidly, manuals less so. Later, pre facelift examples with good history/owners/specs are holding up better.

Gen 1 Facelift cars (2013-2015 with S Tronic gearboxes) seem to be holding their value very well.

Gen 2 cars are still falling at a similar rate to the last year or so and the 2016 cars are now barely above the Gen 1 Facelift cars, although mileages may not be comparable.

If anything, there seems to be a strong influx of new buyers and I think the cars are still a good long term bet, albeit with a dip over the next year.

What? This is all factually wrong and entirely fictitious. You can still order and buy the current R8.

R8 is still availabe. There's been a lot of back and fourth about the future but Audi has hinted the next gen R8 might get the V10 but with hybrid tech.
