R8 discontinued
Discussion
Doesn't surprise me, but unfortunately I imagine they have concluded that they will concentrate the brand on the passenger car market and let others in the VAG world take the fight to Ferrari etc - shame as I love mine and I'm not really that interested in the market value impact as I don't intend to sell it, but I can see there might be those who would be worried.
Interesting!
Just tried it on the Carwow website and there wasn't any message about the R8 being discontinued. However I do feel that the long term future for the R8 is uncertain, given that the Mk3 Audi TT is not being replaced.
Re Gen 2 pre-facelift values, they are still depreciating today but who knows what will happen in the future. It's hard to know how things will look like at the end of this year, let alone five years from now.

Do you think this will have an effect on residuals of pre-face lift 16/18 cars?
Earliest R Tronic cars are falling pretty rapidly, manuals less so. Later, pre facelift examples with good history/owners/specs are holding up better.Gen 1 Facelift cars (2013-2015 with S Tronic gearboxes) seem to be holding their value very well.
Gen 2 cars are still falling at a similar rate to the last year or so and the 2016 cars are now barely above the Gen 1 Facelift cars, although mileages may not be comparable.
If anything, there seems to be a strong influx of new buyers and I think the cars are still a good long term bet, albeit with a dip over the next year.

It was canned around this time last year, along with the TT.
I assume we’ll still get an Audi version of whatever V6 Hybrid replaces the Huracan, but under a different name.
What? This is all factually wrong and entirely fictitious. You can still order and buy the current R8.I assume we’ll still get an Audi version of whatever V6 Hybrid replaces the Huracan, but under a different name.
