I was watching a video on YouTube earlier regarding F1's and it mentioned the 7 that are still locked away in the Sultans collection, along with several special F40s.

Had anyone ever had a proper look around his collection and is there any chance of these cars ever seeing the light of day?

Cars do trickle out of his collection.
Years ago was offered his LM002 that had been converted to RHD.
I thought it was too much at £33,000.

The Brunei collection fascinates me. What I'd do to get a look in those garages.

Unfortunately, the Sultan has no need or desire to open them up for people to have a look.

Those that have had access have had to sign very binding confidentiality documents. There's been a few leaked photos and some stories, but nothing more.

The concern is that, living under quite a strict regime, the people of Brunei wouldn't be very impressed if footage of millions of dollars-worth of cars came to light that have been left to ruin when that (state) money could have been spent more wisely.

I doubt we'll ever see the collection, which is a shame to say the least.

as they have some of the highest standards of living in the world and pay no income tax I doubt that's a huge concern.

I seem to remember reading he sold off quite a few when his younger brother (who had a yacht called t***s) got embroiled in an international scandal.

The Royal family kept Aston Martin afloat in the early 90s.

That yellow F1 was sold out of the collection a few years ago, I believe, and at least one of the RHD F40s too. The blue Cizeta and BMW Nazca were advertised for sale for ages a while ago, from a dealer somewhere in Eastern Europe IIRC.

Talacrest seems to have someone in the know with the collection.

My uncle used to go out there a couple of times a year back in the early to mid 70’s

He had a Rolls shop and was quite involved with some of the special conversions

When he went out there he would spend a month going through all the cars to sort out all the niggles

On one occasion I remember him telling a story where one of the aids came back to the palace in a flap as he had crashed a Rolls into a ditch, the advice was to get another one ordered to replace it

The fear is that a lot of them have been left to rot and are in various states of disrepair.

During the 90's, there were teams of mechanics and engineers despatched to Brunei to keep on top of maintenance for the fleet.

That appears to have been stopped since Prince Jefri's misdemeanors came to light.

Linky - Not pretty reading

But.... why...?
It seems so bizarre to have all those cars sat there not being used anyway but just being left to deteriorate is ever stranger. And why so many duplicates?
