Morning all,

I’m looking to add a couple of cars to my garage in the near future - I’m looking at Esprit’s, AM V8’s (old style), 911 Turbo (964 or 993) and 355’s.

I’ve previously had a 360 and loved it, realised as soon as I sold it that I had made a mistake. Although before buying the 360 I was torn between the 355 and the later car..

I now want to scratch the itch and go for a red 355, manual but can’t decide between the Berlinetta or the GTS - I keep reading conflicting information on the GTS about creaks.

I’m can’t remember any issues with the 360’s roof, although that could be my poor memory... but the creaks in my 570 Spider are annoying.

Any advice? Does the GTS suffer from creaks?

Thanks,

Mark

I have a GTS and yes, it creaks. And without the roof there's a fair degree of scuttle shake. However being able to take the top off and get a Spider-esque experience (whilst retaining the looks) is a reasonable price to pay. I guess it depends how hard you're going to be driving it. The GTB will undoubtedly be the purer driving experience and if doing it again (I've had my GTS 10 years) I'd go GTB.

I would get a road registered 355 Challenge, but if that’s not a option then I would be tempted by the GTS for the open air motoring given the 355 is a relatively soft car anyway, so I doubt the lack of roof will hugely impact the driving dynamics (I only owned a Berlinetta, so no first hand experience of the GTS).

TDF/tan manual gts every time. Not that I'm likely to be in the market though sadly.
Which isn't red I grant you.

Imho a 355 gts just looks stunning! Had a manual rosso/nero several years ago. To hear the clackety clack on the gear change complemented by that awesome exhaust tone was pure magic. Not many cars look great from front, side and rear. A nice dilemma you have- colours and spec are obviously all personal to you. I never had any major issues in 3 years, I did have a challenge back box fitted, my Christ that was loud- loved it!

A cool guy that’s in shape parking outside his Beverly Hills home with the rest of his collection in the sun looks great

The last one I saw was at the side of the road, broken down in drizzle in a town in Surrey and the balding, overweight bloke was struggling to get back in it and his arse crack was showing

hehe

Love them, dream car but reality of owning one nowadays isn’t what it once was imho

So you saw one broken down in the rain with an over weight owner, and you base your sweeping statement on that? Oh ok smile

I think one of the mighty glories of the 355 is that every version looks amazing. I had a spider (Manual) and had pals with GTB and gts versions. At some point or another I’ve wanted every version but now I find myself preferring the purity of the GTB. There are no duff choices so you can’t lose! Well, apart from when it comes to servicing when you will lose a huge amount regardless of what gets said. Any 355 is expensive to run. End of. No point buying for investment as the maintenance costs will trash any profit for many years to come, but as a car to drive and enjoy, its right up there. For me it’s at the sweet spot of being rapid enough but not too fast that you can’t give it the beans. Nothing quite like it on the right road in the right conditions. And the sound - dear god, one of the greatest noises ever.

Had my GTB Fiorano manual from 2003 (origianal spec) as I wanted the best handling . My cars buttresses have been done in 2004 and I never had an issue since. Back in those days, most owners I knew use to have them done so there is a fair chance the car you buy will have had them.
Still amazes me how small the 355 looks vs the 360/CS, even though the standard 360 is lighter! Love to drive them both but for me the 355 is the prettier smile

Many Thanks smile
Absolutely love the car. Took 18 months to find it and it was my perfect spec i.e exactly as I would have ordered it if I had the money to spec a new one.

Yes very nice car from what I can see.
Though it was my understanding that there was 100 fiorano F355s made due to the end of line. They were all spiders with plaques.
But the factory did sell fiorano handling kits for custumer cars, is that what your had?
