Aventador S Full Owners Review
Discussion
Owned now for 5 months, Part exchanged my Gallardo performante spyder for the dream, big boy V12 as I have always lusted after a V12 Lambo since I was about 8 when a guy pulled over to swap drivers near me and my 2 mates when we were on our bikes looking in amazement at this red countach while he revved it shaking the tarmac beneath our feet. (well that's how I remember it anyway around 1989/90).
I feel this model of lamborghini gets overlooked as a drivers car and has an unfair reputation of a posers car due to all the videos of youngsters renting them and revving them in a stupid manor in london and weddings etc.
I have only found one review (linked to below with subtitles) that I think does this car any justice and shows the cars true capabilities (not just drag racing in a straight line etc)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25eUYkWoeLY
The car is much more agile than most people think and can be enjoyed down twisty country roads which was my main concern before buying it.
Downsides are you do need to drive it for at least 10-15 mins to get everything up to temperature as the gearbox in corsa mode doesn't shift fast unless car is up to correct temps. (I only drive it in corsa mode with paddles at all times)
Fuel fill ups are constant with at best 8mpg.
Accelaration is crazy, especially from 2nd,3rd,4th....it is just relentless and the 4wd and 4 wheel steer make it so much more accessable than a rear wheel drive car. My point is do not discount this car as being less fun simply due to the 4wd set up.
Noise is a shame as it does not sound anywhere near as good as the old lp640/lp670 murcie with the pure F1 high pitch scream, but I discounted these cars simply as I wanted the newer car with warranty and the better performance, also the fact I want to be able to drive the car as much as possible where with the older murcies, that could be an issue.
The aventador still sounds great say 8/10 but not the 10/10 of say an LP670/ Carrera GT/ F50/ Enzo etc.
Air con works great, much better than both gallardos I have owned (2006/2012)
Even the stereo is ok and my car has the standard system.
Bought the car with only 1200 miles (ex Peter Saywell collection car) and after 900 miles of me driving it on a daily basis had a gearbox issue where it was jumping from 2nd to 4th with a nasty grinding noise in reverse.
Trailered to Lamborghini Chelmsford and diagnostic reports sent to Italy.
Decision to replace entire gearbox under warranty, pics below.
Car has been faultless since (now on 4,800 miles and the service I have received from Lamborghini Chelmsford has been very good with fast turnaround times and constant updates regarding the gearbox replacement.
I also received 2 phone calls direct from Italy whilst the car was being repaired to confirm I was happy with the Dealer (Part of the Grange Group)
Italy seem to be making sure their main dealers are up to scratch after closing down Sevenoaks I believe.
Due to driving it so much in all weathers and not being happy with quite a few swirl marks on the car, I couldn't get the car clean enough to my standards on my own so have had it detailed by Daryl Benfield, owner of Offset Detailing in Essex.
(I have been approached several times whilst getting fuel by mobile detailers etc), but unless they have gone to the effort of having a secure garage/ facilities website etc I have not taken them seriously.
Was happy with the service and price and would recommend Offset Detailing.
Overall really happy with the car and think I will keep it for some time, In corsa flat out from 2nd to 3rd it litterally makes me laugh!!
Proper machine and not just for posers.....they can be driven hard!

4WS makes it a wonderful car, completely different to earlier ones. I've said on this forum I prefer the S to the SV (I haven't driven an SVJ).
My friend has a switchable Capristo exhaust on his S, it has a cockpit switch to toggle between normal (quiet) and loud (valves open). I'm not sure how it affects his warranty though.

Nice post, right from the 8 year old, too achieving the dream.
Car looks epic, I like it all but especially the way the detailers vid picked up the front end shark look, although that could be just how I see them. Handy too see the detailer is also only 10 mins from me as I'm looking at some paint correction work on my car this summer, (hopefully.)
The car looks a beast on the road as shown in the other link, it looks very impressive in all areas and I thought it sounded fantastic in the YouTube clip.
Enjoy it.

I thought Harry Metcalfe's was a good review.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25eUYkWoeLY

Yes, Harry's Garage review was very good, I forgot about that one, He is also bang on about the seats, not supportive or special enough, just average.
He also brings up the quality of the damping and suspension which is also very impressive for a car of this type, and several passengers I have had in the car were surprised at this, expecting a much firmer ride.
I have never seen an S for sale in the uk in that colour (Viola), seen a few huracan performante's though.
Would love someone to do a large canvas print of this pic.....
He sure has the right roads around where he is to enjoy the cars properly as well

Nice post! Your detailer did a great job too.
I saw a thread on the detailing of your car on the Detailing World forum - your detailer transformed the appearance & when I saw your post I remembered reading it had been previously wrapped. It’s unusual to see one in black as many are in “shouty” brighter colours.lambo666 said:
Thanks, yes I hate black wheels as it hides the wheels design, and I cant believe how many people actualy prefer black wheels these days.
Just bought all the correct cleaning products/ towels and snow foam attatchments so no more tesco washes....
I agree - I changed the black wheels on my Murci back to silver.Just bought all the correct cleaning products/ towels and snow foam attatchments so no more tesco washes....
And the white wheels on my Countach back to silver.
Lovely car congratulations, agree about the wheels, for me black wheels get lost in the tyres.
Only problem I had with my S was fuel consumption, not a cost issue but convenience. I found without much effort you could do around 1ltr of petrol a mile, so not much more than 5mpg. Quite surprising considering my first Aventador would do twice that easily.
Anyway I have considered another Aventador but I think an Sv, only downside is no warranty.

Why would that be?My S wouldn’t get a 100miles without fuel warning lights coming on!
Had plans to drive to drive across Europe in it. The thought of filling up 3 times to get to the Ferry from the Midlands put me off!
Shame fantastic car!

Lamborghini now offer a proper warranty directly on older out of warranty cars up to 7 years old for up to 2 years if you buy through a main dealer https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/ownership/pre-ow...

I have been chasing this issue (official extended Lamborghini Warranty) for some time as my original warranty expires next month, last time I had a chat regarding the U.K roll out of it, some of the staff were due to go on training/sales courses in March.
I will update, hopefully with prices etc asap.
My car will be going in for some minor warranty work (passenger side radiator playing up again) as soon as the workshop is reopened.
If anyone has prices or confirmed dates/info regarding the UK roll out of this, please post on here or start a new thread as there are many owners awaiting this, thanks.

I really do think you ought to post a few more pics on here to inspire the rest of us who are stuck indoors!
