I've heard that high end car dealers are getting lots of requests to cancel cars and return deposits!

I've SORN all my cars as I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable being seen out in an expensive car right now, doesn't feel the right thing to do!

I don't have anything on order but if I did then I would seriously consider cancelling

I have a fair few related contacts and it seems that there is some foundation in this, also lots of my friends are trying to work out how to keep companies going and pay the bills and staff rather than adding the next toy to the garage

Many business owners will be facing months of back rent and depletion of cash flow so I can that the emphasis might not be all about the new car going forward

Are many on here currently cancelling, not the everyday runabout but the higher end stuff?

Wouldn't suprise me tbh
Also there's nobody about to see you in your nice car so why worry? Still taking my 570s on supermarket runs nobody bats an eyelid.

Will Corona effect the Supercar Market ?

I do agree but I don't know why a ride in a nice car at the moment constitutes the 'public enemy number 1' tag it seems to have gained when round here we've got a few non-essential businesses still operating like building sites which we all know are dangerous and take a guess the 2 metre rule not being abided by. Fully aware of the strain on the NHS if you crash but I would've thought a building site is more running the risk especially with the two metre rule.

Give it a rest rolleyes, the cringe-o-meter is off the scale. Though you may enjoy living vicariously through the (normally reasonable*) Supercar section of PH, you're no more likely to buy a Supercar - even with a 70% reduction in price - than you had been during your previous PH-daydreaming Supercar purchase/exercise.

For the avoidance of doubt: clicking the browser refresh button 50 times a day when browsing AutoTrader, during a pandemic or otherwise, does not qualify as having "nearly bought" a car.

*a minor exception for the recent ad valorem induced Ratner/P.Clarke levels (i.e. lack) of self-awareness post/thread. Possibly just waiting for a DailyMail-online hatchet job; the sort of thing to keep their dullard readers frothing at the mouth.

I totally agree about certain businesses that are trying to interpret the rules as not applying to our business!

With regards to feeling wrong about taking the car out maybe it's me worrying more than those I pass by,however If it dont feel right what is the point anyway, for the once a week click and collect outing I'm just using the Traffic Double Cab

Well every time I have been out to do a shop at Tesco or Waitrose (including my daily walk) I see all kinds of supercars driving around here (Gerrards Cross).

So far I have seen:

Yellow SVJ spider roof down
Matte Black Performante spider roof down
2 Black Badge Ghosts with their roof down
Aston Martin Vanquish Roof Down
2 or 3 458/488 with roof down
A GT3 RS in Lizard Green

People are enjoying the weather and driving to the shops. People do look at them but no one is really spitting or swearing at them. I guess it depends on where you live and the mindset but I hear what you are saying.

I don't think we need this thread.....

Somewhat OT :

"I've heard"

"People are saying"

"They tell me"

All very Trumpy sayings that usually are conjured out of thin air as certainly in Trump's case he can never identify who aforementioned people are!

You would get arrested for spitting at the moment, smile but fair point.

Honestly no one will care what you're driving apart from the old bill if you're just going for a jolly. Take your car to the shops, I'm sure it will brighten someone's day.

Lol! You’re right I have no plan to buy anything this year whatsoever! I’m too busy overpaying on my mortgage!
But I am keeping an eye on the market!

This.

Proper fed up with all the doom mongers and world renowned financial experts that have appeared and post on multiple threads the same story under a different guise...i think the 'PCP holiday' thread gives the clearest indication of pistonheaders that you are thankful you shall most likely never meet....smug condescending types that instead of offering useful advice to the original post turned it into a bilefest of lording it over people whom have pcp etc and are now it a very serious financial predicament.

Funny thing is, it always the same usernames that pop up on threads causing the bother....they cannot change their personas even when its a once in a generation life changing event.

This thread...in a nutshell...'i am alright, sorned all my cars as i wont need to sell them, but i would like to hear about you guys out there whose businesses are probably fked and what high end cars you have cancelled as you won't be able to afford them'....

So...did i read that correctly Juno?
I seriously think you've been exposed to too much Trump

In answer to paragraph one,I have lots of friends who work in the motor trade, virtually all are now on Furlow, many of them close friends that I employed throughout the years, people that I still meet, socialise with and go on events with. Some are asking is it just them that are getting cancellations, is it a London thing or is it a general wide spread thing, I said I’d ask on a forum although I forgot about the sort of answers you get here

Paragraph 2, Right now all my cars are full of fuel, the roads are empty,I could drive 40 miles out to the coast and have a blast, wouldn’t that be great. However I have SORN’d the cars so there is no temptation to take any unnecessary journeys just for a blat. Imagine you break down, have an accident,it’s stuff you should think about. Some people think it’s ok I’ll just have a quick blast,it won’t hurt anyone. Well if we all thought like that there would be 100,000s of pointless journeys taking place. So no it’s not alright and anyone who makes just one unnecessary journey is nothing but a selfish prick!

I’ve also recently taken a delivery of a new car,I had lots planned but all pretty irrelevant now, more important things to worry about however I’m one of those that will take the absolute financial bashing as well so to coin a phrase “no I’m not alright Jack” I’m in the same boat

I get calls daily from friends who don’t know what to do for the best but I guess we all talk because getting of their chest is a form of release. Some have said how the bloody hell could I buy a new car when we come out of this until all my staff are back at work,up to date with pay and bills and feeling close to back where we were,it wouldn’t be right to stick a new Aston out the front! It’s a serious point and a question for the motor trade to look at

As for the rest of it I have a daughter born with VIRTUALLY NO immune system, she is on a blood substitute infusion which is done weekly and now by herself at home. She’s also pregnant, the timing could have been better. Hence I have ZERO tolerance for any prick that wants to put a burden on the health service right now by going for a blat in a pointless car

So back to the question,is anyone cancelling car orders because they think now is not the right time and there are more important things in life

For the avoidance of doubt this thread is about:

“is anyone cancelling a car already on order”

It’s not about values, depreciation, which is the better or fastest car

It’s simply are you cancelling due to it not being the right thing to be seen doing right now especially if you employ lots of workers who will take a good while to recover!
