A heads up for potential McLaren owners , and existing McLaren owners looking for somewhere to get their car serviced .

The McLaren 540C and 570S were serious considerations as replacements for my Series 1 MX5 .

amongst other considerations , I was concerned by reports about the limited number of service centres , and the quality of care ( sales and service )provided by some of these places .

I ended up buying what must have been the cheapest and highest mileage Lotus that Bell and Colvill have sold in the last decade .

Despite this , the sales service provided by Jamie Matthews can only be described as exemplary .
The servicing work carried out by Phil Marking and Richard Ferris was equally brilliant .

Having bought new and used Lambos , Ferraris and Porsches from Main Dealers , Independents and Privately , I can only say that dealing with B&C was a thoroughly pleasant experience -- totally professional , and totally accommodating .

And they are building a new 12 bay service center

So if you are thinking of getting a McLaren contact Jamie , or if you are thinking of getting your McLaren serviced get in touch with Phil or Richard -- McLaren just made ownership of their cars just that much easier by appointing B&C .

Are they selling cars or just servicing?

I believe that Jamie is now already handling used McLaren sales .

Phil runs the workshop .
Richard Ferris was introduced to me as their Master technician , and he was wearing a McLaren sweatshirt .

Richard and Phil did some pretty intricate bespoke wiring for me , and it was done to an exceptionally high standard .

But the best part was that they were all so obliging .

McLaren have really done well with getting B&C onboard , and this should enhance their reputation and sales .

The image that I saw of the new workshop ( that is currently being built ) was really impressive .

B&C have a good reputation, and might be somewhere I'd consider at some point.

However - it's worth pointing out that in this area, the "limited" McLaren servicing bandwidth is somewhat outdated news. Ascot's servicing has now moved to Bracknell, and it's MUCH bigger - last time I was there, I saw between 10-20 McLaren's on lifts. Plus New Forest is a recent addition, and does collection / delivery within a pretty decent radius.

Did wonder why I'd started noticing a few reasonably new McLarens there on my daily drive by, whilst on my way to work.

There was a 69 plate GT in gold, there yesterday, or may have been Tuesday as I also saw it on the A246.

I wanted something done on the Elise so Bell and Colvill arranged for the car to be picked up .

Simon (who has been working for Bell and Colvill for the last 33 years - which in itself tell you something about the company ) arrived in a brand-new box trailer that is apparently capable of carrying the largest McLaren model ( would that be the 720S or the P1 ? )

Shows B&C's commitment to McLaren , and best of luck to both companies

I remember picking up my new Elise, 20 years ago from B&C. Remember the conversation with Bobby Bell as though it was last week. They also sold my Elise on a sale or return at a price that I paid for when there was a premium, . Car sold on Christmas Eve.

Many year ago I went to test drive the new Elan SE Turbo there and Bobby Bell took me out. Scared the living daylights out of me (in a good way with me grinning in the passenger seat at the time), and was an absolute joy to deal with. Realise BB is no longer with us, but reputation still very good so my LT will now be going there for sure as I live locally.

It is also nearly 20 years to the day that I picked up my first ever brand new car, a Subaru Impreza Turbo from them. Have to admit the after service wasn't the best and I ended up going to Cheam Motors (long gone) for servicing.

But was certainly an amazing experience driving away in a brand new Impreza.

B&C look after my 675LT & 430CUP. They are a great bunch of people, I wish I could take my Porsche there!
