I am on the market for 4 seater coupe that would myself & my 3 boys, 2 child seats for 2/3 years old, so rear seats must be usable. I have Ferrari 360 which is a keeper and family 4x4, so this one is going to be weekend / joy / fun car.
Ideally looking for convertible. Budget is around £100K-£120K, might stretch a little bit
The choice so far is rather limited, in my pref order at the mo:
- California
- Vanquish
- FF
- Maserati GranCabrio
- 911 Turbo
- Mercedes CL
Aston & Porker rear seats are of big concern, I had DB9 for few years and my then 7 years old son could fit in the back but my wife had to pull the seat all the way to the front, luckily she is petite. Deffo not gonna work now.
I have the same concerns re California (or if stretch the budget to Portofino) rear seats, am I right?
Really like FF but no convertible option, so probably not gonna work.
CL looks like the biggest convertible in the back but doesn't sound like being fun car to drive. I am also about to order GLS as new family wagon.
Maser looks like ticking all boxes (need to check rear seats though) but 10+ years old technology & interior looks dated, 450bhp engine feels underpowered for 2t car, slowest in the list, the noise is great though. I haven't been in facelifted version yet.
I like the shape & interior of new ContiGTC W12 but it is well above my budget and also their depreciation is rather scary.
Any other options? M8? BMW sounds like a step back from Aston/Ferrari badges, even technologically it might be better car.

The only true 4 seaters on your list are the Merc, Maser and FF. Forget the others as you’ll run into the same problem you had with your Aston.

If you have to have a convertible then it’s a toss-up between the Merc and the Maser.

The Maser sounds epic - but the tradeoff is the dated interior. As for being overweight or underpowered, I’d question whether you need more than 500hp in a convertible boulevard cruiser anyway (even if it does weight close to 2 tons).

Agree with all of this..Personally it would be a nice FF all day long for me with the one caveat that it 'must have' the panoramic roof..Get one in one of the Greys or Blues and you have a classy, roomy and practical supercar as well as a gorgeous sounding V12..If you insist on a convertible then obviously the FF is out and in which case i'd get a Maserati Grancabrio.

This is what i'd get if you want a classy four seat convertible..

Or an equally classy option albeit slightly less roomy.

Isn't this the question the Aston Martin Rapide was developed to answer:-

All the looks of the Aston DB coupe's but with the practicality of 4 doors and proper back seats. OK, it may not be a convertible, but all the 4 seater convertibles which are currently available are either dynamically compromised, or are really just 2+2's.

Thx guys.
GTC is a good call actually. I can’t afford most recent model but 2015/2016 cars look nice. Never driven one, will give it a chance.
DB11 - I love Aston’s but I suspect it is similar space in the back to DB9/Vanquish, will be too small.
Rapide - too similar to DB9 I had for few years, nice space in the back but feels almost like family saloon car.

The more i think about your situation the more i like the Bentley GTC i highlighted above..Great colour and fantastic full spec and only a couple of years old..It just seems unbeatable VFM when you think about the Bentley badge and the W12 engine..Probably buy it for a shade over £90K which is an incredible amount of car for the money IMO

When we were looking around, a GTC ('17 model) turned out to be the best 4 seat convertible for us.

Vanquish - already have one, back seats too small
GranCabrio - nice car, bit dated, poor dealer experience
911 - back seats too small
CL - Mercedes just not special enough
Ferraris - just don't do it for us

The Conti is far from the most extreme car but as a summer cruiser it definitely does the job.
