Considering buying a 2014 Aventador Roadster - Views

So i thinking of making the plunge, i have owned many super cars in the past and currently have a 458, but there is something about the Aventador that I have always loved, always wanted. I'm not one of these idiots that drives their car through central London, in fact i try to avoid central London as much as possible with my cars, i do a lot of driving trips and European road trips and love a NA super car with theater and presence....

so my obvious questions are, what are peoples views of the market right now, is it true the AV replacement is now delayed to 2024? How much, given i am looking to buy in the next 6 weeks or so should i demand off of the asking price of the cars....

i pretty much know everything else id be getting into with an AV - i had a Gallardo for 3.5 years so know about the clutch, and running costs etc etc, so its really peoples views on the market right now and how much discount to expect given people are not jumping into these cars right now.

Looked at one last summer, trust me, try an Aventador S before you do anything (newer car with warranty and much more usable) - see my most recent post regarding geearbox issue on the other thread.....

i think the Aventador S roadsters with very low mileage are still incredibly expensive, you can get 2014-2015 AV roadster with under 5k miles for £195-210k i had a Gallardo for a few years and did 11k miles on it, the E-gear has its quirks and is by no means a twin clutch box, but i didn't hate it, its quite a theatrical experience, i thought.

I don't mind the gearbox, or the aggressive nature of it (I always drove both the Gallardo and Av in Corsa) - I was alluding to the fact that if the gearbox went on a well out of warranty 2014/2015 Av roadster - you may have a 35k bill to pay.
For not too much more money (say 225k) I went for a low milage 2017 S model coupe still within Manufactures Warranty.
I couldnt stretch to a roadster so made do with the coupe.

Nothing compares to the theatre of an Aventador ... just be prepared for A LOT of attention (always positive from my experience).

Really depends on budget, what year/spec you can get your hands on. offer what you like but £10k under asking price would be a good start.

Just go into eyes wide open: minor service £2k, major service £3.8k (if it doesn’t require anything doing).

Mine are still under warranty, but I kept my previous one (a 2012) for several years outside of having any warranty and it was trouble free in the 4yrs I owned it.

I’ve not had anything go wrong on any of the 3 Aventadors I’ve owned. IMO and experience, they’re built well and are solid cars.

As for ownership, used cars hold their money fairly well and other than servicing and insurance (and lots of fuel) they’re pretty reasonable.

New cars, take a pretty big whack in depreciation these days eg. My Nov 2017 Av S has 1400 miles and is ‘as new’ and its probably c£220k now at a guess, but that’s what you get for buying new and speccing pearl paint & carbon.

They are a very different (much harder) proposition compared to the ride of say a Ferrari ... not sure I’d want to do a long euro trip in mine, but I know guys who do.

I have to say, my Gallardo in the 3.5 years i owned it had zero issues. It really was bullet proof and i put 11,000 miles on it, took it around Spa and Nurburgring, various European road trips, didn't miss a beat. I wouldn't track an AV to be fair but would do a lot of European miles in it. i think if you know how to use the gearbox, then you wont have any issues. My 458 is the perfect car i have to say, does everything, but i just need to scratch the AV itch and get it out of my system.
