Happy Aventador S Owner!!
Discussion
This post is mostly for potential owners who like me was/is unsure whether to go for one of these over other alternatives and maybe hesitant because of the size/useability of the the thing.
After 2 weeks of driving everywhere I can happily report the car is not too big (my main concern from changing from a gallardo performante) and I can still enjoy it down familiar back roads / A roads etc.
However the differences in driving the 17 onwards 'S model' with the 4 wheel steering which help the usability at low speed is quite pronounced and if you are considering any Aventador please drive one of the S model later cars as they certainly seem to drive a lot easier than the earlier models.
Noise wise I prefered the sound from my older Gallardo but this did have a Larini Clubsport exhaust on it so I may have to fit an exhaust to the Aventador to help with this.
Am willing to take advice from anyone on here if they have gone down that route with a 17 plate onwards S model.
(Am stating this as there are hardly any videos of the newer car with an after market exhaust - there are loads with the previous standard model and SV varient but not many with my model to go on)
Biggest issue so far which I remember from previous owners posts on here is the rate the fuel litterally disapears, and I am not exagerating in the fact it seems to go through fuel 2.5 times faster than my older Gallardo drivng in a simular fashion.
This may cause a problem if I want to take the car on a driving tour ie Scotland etc - where after hard driving in the Aventador you are lucky to get 80 miles from a tank, maybe less.
The Gallardo would easily get over 180 miles driving hard without thought about worrying about where to find the nearest petrol garage.
Had it flash up a couple times 'performance limited' when sitting in heavy traffic and the temp gauge go rather high - but have no effect on the car (no limp mode etc) - Car cools down - back on open road and no issue or warnings.
Will check into dealer when I have time as still under manufacturers warranty.
Regarding the warranty I am aware you cannot extend the warranty on an Aventador before it expires in the UK, however I have been told it maybe possible to drive into europe - maybe france or Belguim have an inspection done at a Main Dealer and set up the warranty in the dealer abroad - anyone aware of this ??? Fact or fiction?
Happy punter at the moment - wish it had a bigger fuel tank though!
And as you would expect - the performance is amazing - 2nd to 3rd flat out has left me shocked a couple of times...what a machine!!!

Re fuel pull the nozzle right out of the tank almost, you can get almost 15 litres extra in from when it clicks off. Fuel gauge will say it’s full when it isn’t.
I’ve done a lot of tours with Lamborghini with lots of Aventadors and the difference between doing this and not is massive to how many fuel stops you make.
Yes the Aventadors use almost exactly double what Huracan and Gallardo use in fuel for the same drive.
Enjoy your new car, S is probably the best all round car Lamborghini make imo.
Just to add just doing the muffler on Aventador makes it louder but not by much no where near the difference on Gallardo. Only way to make it properly loud is to take cats out, Gallardo is loud enough on just a muffler just for reference.
Just reading back you post I would get your car checked as I’ve never seen limited performance or heard of anyone else who has, and I’ve sat in a lot of traffic jams in south of France and Italy in mid summer on tours.
Only time I’ve ever heard of it is when gearbox has managed to confuse itself as to what gear it’s in which corrects itself as soon as you have run through all the gears up and down.

Many thanks Topjay, was out today for an hour blast and every time I get in approx 5 mins of traffic the 'performance limited' will appear and temp gauge goes up and stays there until engine switched off. Leave for 10 mins, everything fine again...until I hit traffic...
Going to fuel up again so will attempt your advice on filling up.
Many thanks for your advice, trying to get informative usefull advice in the supercar section is getting rare on here these days with the amount of nonsense spouted by other posters. Will report back on the fuel filling situation.

Well that was a top tip if there ever was one.... took a while start stopping with the petrol pump but did indeed manage to put in an extra £13.50 of the tesco 99 stuff. After my usual blasting around route using a bit of motorway and country roads I would usually come home with half a tank, this time only showing a quarter tank used, so indeed a big difference! Thankyou for that tip!!
Is anyone on here a supercardriver member?
Is it worth the £350 annual fee?
Is there plenty of driving meets organised? - Im not really interested in standing around in large car parks with other owners or going to shows where members of the public fawn over static display cars (tried both and thats not for me) - more interested in driving tours so to speak.....
Again thanks Topjay for the fuel tip!!

I thought SCD was £250.00 I think that’s what I’m paying anyway. There are lots of events all over the place so if you want to get involved probably good club to join.
As Topjay mentioned I’ve never had any issues with performance limitations or engine getting very hot, I do remember my first Aventador going into 6 cylinder mode when in Strada mode but that’s what it should do.
It was probably me who mentioned fuel consumption previously, I could get twice the range out of my 2013 Aventador compared to my S. Seems a high price for 40 extra bhp. Still a great car but that consumption made to inconvenient for me!

less than 80 miles from a tank is insane!
I drove mine to Leicester at no more than 85mph as it's motorway all the way there and back for me. I had to stop on the way back for fuel at about 80miles as it had gone into reserve. Worked out at no more than 6 mpg at a steady pace. As I've said previously it's not just the cost it's the inconvenience. Back to a perf now it almost feels a Nissan leaf fuel wise in comparison. Can you pop it to a Lambo Dealer and have them check for software updates? A few discussions on this suggest either a software upgrade required or a faulty sensor (Oil Temp). It is to do with the software that runs the Gearbox, I think. It is highly unlikely to be anything major and also should be a warranty covered rectification.
I think of you ring a Lambo dealer with the VIN they can check if there are any updates outstanding for it.
Beautiful car.

that's approaching F50 levels in terms of mpg
It's mental. The SVJ which is based on the S, will do 200 ish miles on a full tank for motorway driving. I'm not disputing the quoted figures btw. Just shocked. As Topjay said, you can definitely squeeze a lot more petrol in once the nozzle clicks off, which should help.Oh, and lovely car with a great spec. Enjoy it!
Thanks for all your posts, will pop it to either Chelmsford or Tunbridge Wells when the 'new car phase I want to drive it all the time' wears off.
Don't know how to get the mpg up on the display, must be quite hidden among the settings.
SCD membership is now priced at £350 per annum.
Only cosmetic change I would like to make would be the clear glass slats at the back - any ideas on this, please post away.
Have done 950 miles in 3 weeks ownership and thats with no long trips, just blasting around on me lonesome and taking mates out etc.
Much more usable than I thought possible and has surprised me, as before purchasing was worried about the size and agility, where as with the Huracan Performante/Spyder which was my other choice - I could use these everyday without worry about the size/width, with the same if not better performance.
But when you need to have a V12 etc etc.
2nd to 3rd in corsa at full whack makes me laugh to myself - and hold the steering wheel rather tight.......
There was a post a couple months back linking to a 17 or 18 plate Aventador S with close to 35k miles on it, I can totally understand why.
I totally underestimated the useability of these.
