50k MCL dealer contribution
Discussion
Just seen a picture on socal media of McLaren manchester offering 50k delaer contribution on a 570s spider! From the image it looks like it may be an offer that was emailed out. That is a crazy amount of contribution, are they stuggling for sales that badly? Did anyone get this email or know the actual details of the offer?
Posted on another thread but relevant here maybe?
Allegedly, Sytner have purchased a large amount of stock from McLaren recently.
Any truth in this rumour and might this be a possible reason for the massive dealer contributions and e-mails looking to buy up used models?
I guess it might be a good method of trying to shift some excess stock?

You only need to look at 2nd Hand prices of the cars to realise you need to ask for a lot more than 50k off when you buy one!
Such a shame for the brand as what will happen to their customers in the future? Who will want to buy a McLaren when they know its going to tank as soon as they drive it out of the showroom. I would dearly love a McLaren but I just can't justify the loss on the car

The problem is, getting 'a lot more than 50k off' a new car is one of the main reasons used prices tank in the first place.Such a shame for the brand as what will happen to their customers in the future? I dearly wanted a McLaren, I knew that I'd lose a chunk of money every day I owned it (even though I bought used). But you only live once, and I'm glad I bought it. I didn't buy it as an investment, and it's unlikely to ever be worth absolutely nothing - and there are very few things I'd rather be using my money to enjoy.

Agreed, but it depends on which price point you're buying in at. Sub £100k McLarens will cause other marques prices to drop. Why would you buy a Porsche, R8, Ferrari or Lambo at that price point when you can buy a McLaren? At circa £70k for a 12C or not much more for a much newer 570 - what amazing value? The mass production / over supply of these cars is is yet another catalyst for the continued "modern classics / sportscars" market imploding on itself.

There was a similar promotion last year, offering a £40k contribution towards a finance agreement provided you took out their finance.
Given their current stocks though I'm sure somebody walking in as a cash buyer will see a similar discount. Tough times for the dealers.
Received these from Mc Manchester around this time last year:Given their current stocks though I'm sure somebody walking in as a cash buyer will see a similar discount. Tough times for the dealers.
I'm Australian and I've noticed a lot of McLarens struggling to sell. 2 year old 570S (new price about low $400s) now offered at about $270,000 and probably fat to trim there. 4 year old 650S spider (new price high $400s) now around $275,000 and again I'm sure you could bargain heaps.
High 200s is what a 992 Carrera 4S would sell for here, and I know which I'd prefer.
Not sure if the economy is tanking or what, but I am tracking down how long these McLaren have been on the market and once it gets up to 12 mths I am going to put in a low-ball offer and see how I go.

ALL new cars tank when you drive them out the showroom. That’s why I’ve never bought a new car. It’s the most expensive smell in the world.

The top end Bentley's, Mercedes, Aston Martin's, BMW's etc have always done this in the past and still do this today but it hasn't stopped people buying them new so I am not so sure it would be too much different with a McLaren. Anyone that wants a brand new car will do just that and buy a new one.Such a shame for the brand as what will happen to their customers in the future? Because the McLaren warranty renewal is ridiculously expensive compared to a Porsche or R8, and reliability issues of the McLaren and the fact you would be able to sell these other brands after owning for a year where as no dealer wants to touch a used McLaren.DMC2 said:

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/mclaren/12c/mclaren-mp4-12c-mp4-12c/10055308Full main dealer history, nice spec, nice mileage. It's a whole load of car with a year's McLaren warranty for 70k? This or an old Ferrari 430 on current prices?
As these car's become cheaper it will force the used prices of other marques downwards. As McLarens get cheaper and cheaper there becomes a point where a warranty that is 2k more expensive than a Ferrari or Lambo warranty becomes insignificant.
If it keeps on coming down as fast as it has i might even be tempted myself :-)

Is the warranty really that expensive?
It is a chunk of money - and I would prefer it cost less. But - on the Ferrari threads, the general view seems to be that the Ferrari warranty is very limited in what it covers - even if it's cheaper. Plenty of people seem to prefer Warranty Direct or similar. I've seen a post before saying that the convertible roof wasn't covered.
At least McLaren warranty is comprehensive. It is expensive, but it does seem to cover almost everything - so I'm not convinced people are comparing apples to apples.
