Think it’s got to be an R8 V10 in the next few months.

Got to be a Gen 1. Manual or STronic

I can’t seem to find an options list anywhere.

Can anyone help with / recommending good to have have options.

Cheers

V10 plus manual with carbon, passive suspension and extended leather would be my ultimate spec.
I believe the plus is 560hp and around 100kg lighter then standard.
B&O stereo is good, should be standard with the V10. The normal exhaust is around 40kgs so if someone has swapped in a titanium exhaust I’d view that as a bonus.
If it has the magnetic suspension get it checked for leaks.
Had mine for 2 years and love it, does a great job as an everyday supercar, might not fit a ‘Sunday special’ brief.

Had a V10 plus facelift for a couple of yrs great car wonderful noise and v quick. The plus was very well specced as standard compared to regular V10...full carbon interior/exterior and engine bay ( which looks great). Cars with bucket seats are quite rare even tho they were a no cost option and manuals even rarer again. A manual with buckets would be a nice find , having said that the S tronic box works v well with the car .

heres a brochure - http://www.castlecars.co.uk/downloads/r8.pdf

V10s are pretty well spec'd out of the box, personally the only essentials that are not standard are Cruise and telephone prep... everything else is a nice to have, most do have a decent amount of options though... i think i looked a one coupe that was completely standard and in flat white, the original owner of mine went nuts, about the only thing it doesn't have is carbon brakes which i view as a positive

are you looking or a coupe or spyder?

Had a gen 1 & loved it.

Must be manual, must have carbon, must have extended leather, all imo!

I had a miltek exhaust fitted, sounded awesome!

Extended leather and the carbon options are in my opinion what makes the interior a more special place to be. If you can get those you have done well!

Will be a Coupe.

Do they need servicing every year or two.....mix of reports out there?

I had a V10 plus for two years, fantastic cars. The plus comes with all the extras - ceramic brakes, carbon engine bay trims, extended leather / alcantara, phone prep etc...

Servicing is every 2 years and isn’t that expensive considering what the car is capable of.

According to the service schedule it's every 2 years, but most owners have an oil and filter change done every year.

If I were buying a coupe I’d be leaning towards a v10 plus, re servicing it depends if it’s fixed or variable, fixed is one year, variable can be two depending on usage I suppose

The engine bay lights are very show offy, but it's fun to gloat over that engine at night. The B&O stereo is worth having. If you drive very, very fast, then the magnetic suspension option would be good but for it to be worth the cost, and the risk of forking out quite a lot to replace leaking bits, you need to be a bloody quick driver. I've driven Alfas for decades and I always thought their gearboxes were nice (except second gear synchro on Alfettas and such like obviously!) but the R8 manual is a thing of awe.

I've never driven an R8 with carbon brakes but reports suggest they're quite grabby until they're well warmed up. Alright on a circuit I guess but the boring old steel jobs do a very fine job of stopping you anyway.

Cruise control is well worth the cost of having it retro fitted if you buy one without.it. Helps keep the boys in blue away... Best few hundred quid I've spent in a while.

Good luck

both are standard on the V10 (expect the Plus has fixed rate suspension)

This is the standard kit on the V10 which is optional on the V8:

- Magnetic Ride
- Sat Nav Plus
- B&O sound system
- Electric Heated seats
- Folding mirrors
- Bluetooth Phone
- Lighting Pack
- Hill holder assist
- Metallic Paint
- CD Multichanger
- Tyre pressure system

I *think* these are the V10 options but happy to be corrected. I think they changed slightly ever couple of years?:

Cruise control
Reversing camera
Parking Plus
Ceramic brakes
AMI iPod connector
Carbon interior
Carbon engine bay
Garage door opener
Leather gear knob
Headlight washers

Interestingly extended leather is standard in the v10 spyder but not the coupe

Hi, I bought a V10 Plus on Tuesday...you will not be dissapointed with 610 bhp! my only irritation is that the sun visors are are useful as a chocolate fire guard...my drive home from Brighton to Plymouth was not a great one due to full sun in my face...ok...so Im only 5'4" but I had the seat raised fully but still I was dazzled.

There is a small hole where a reversing camera should fit but the dealers say it has never had one...is it possible to have one fitted in this model, I have not driven a car with no reversing camera for years so it has made me lazy lol!

I'm guessing they're still 100 times better than the ones in my 650!

Yes, pretty sure you can from these guys:

Not used them myself though although I have a reversing camera and would find parking without it a complete pain.
