Agreed - despite being a generation behind, the F12 wipes the floor with DBS in every respect apart from possibly infotainment.

Bloody hell guys is it really that bad? The car guys video showed that it got very close to the 812 so i thought it might just be as good as the F12. In other reviews, they seem to rate it, or are you lot just Ferrari biased?

I had a dbs and drove an f12, there is no contest - not that the dbs is a bad car but the f12 is in a different league

Why don’t you just test drive both and go for the one that you and only you prefer?

Firstly i like to hear what fellow PHers say then i will do that but i,m in Italy and i tell you now there are no DBS,s here and only one dealer miles from me has a F12.

Fair point didn’t realise you were in Italy, I’ve given my opinion as I’ve driven both and to me it was a no contest

It depends what you are looking for from the car. IMO the DBS SL is a GT car, a very good and handsome GT car but it feels it’s weight and the gearbox is too slow, when you start to push on a little and want it to be a sports car. I drove one back to back not with an F12 but an 812 and they are cars on different planets. Whilst the F12 is older, the comparison is similar - the engine and drivetrain responsiveness in the Ferraris are much more sporting in character, and the chassis more responsive when you push it. IMO.

Are we talking the 2007 on DBS or the current one, DBSS?

OP, if you are in Italy, there is only one answer - F12. Sure, the DBS will probably be a rarer sight but I would suggest that dealer support will be more of an issue than for the F12. In addition, if you drive a Ferrari in Italy, you are a hero. It’s as simple as that. I’ve had pump attendants wrestle the fuel nozzle out of my hand and insist on fuelling my car for me. The love is that strong.

Regarding the cars themselves, I only have experience of the pre SL DBS but I cant imagine that Aston has moved the game on that far as it would have to be a massive leap for them to have trumped the F12...

Agree that being in Italy, a Ferrari appears to make more sense.

I've just picked up a DBS Superleggera (on loan) today however, and its really very good. I'd say the Ferrari is not really a competitor, as the Aston is more a relaxed but v fast luxury type of GT car rather than a more "lively" sports car type of GT.

Think a bit more towards the Bentley end of the spectrum, but still closer to the Ferrari than the Bentley.

Autocar preferred the DBSS to the 812, as they felt it met the brief better of a super GT. The 812 and no doubt, the F12, are more 'hardcore', so I suspect it depends more on what type of car you want.

Personall,y I think I need one of each...……!!

lol. yes. The 812 is going for around £100k more than the DBS sl though.
