Almost time to renew my policy on my 'fun car'. For the past 10 years I have used specialist brokers and have never had to claim. My daily is on a multicar policy with Admiral and I just got a check quote from them for the Aston. Its 50% less than most brokers. Would I be crazy to use Admiral on a high value car? What do you think? It could have saved me over 5K in the past 10 years !

I think the main issue with them is whether they'll let you use a repairer of your choice.

I got quotes recently because I'm considering changing cars and they are ~£1k Vs ~£1.6k for the nearest competitor (and seem to have less conditions about garage and tracker).

I have my 612 with Admiral. I can choose my own repairer but the quote has to be approved first, Admiral won’t guarantee the work, and no courtesy car supplied. All terms I can live with. The 430 is with Manning as they include track days.

Exactly the same (Admiral) with my Gallardo. Used them for the last 6 years as they’ve been consistently well below the rest. Got side-swiped last year and had no problems with the claims process. Even went with their own approved body shop as I know them and their work is flawless (Sandydown at Stockbridge), which of course afforded me a courtesy car too.

Been with Admiral for the last couple of years with my R8 and daily driver.

Probably not the best of terms but certainly best in cost - saved me a bucket load especially as I discovered your first car's NCB can't apply to your 2nd car. Thanks Insurance industry smile

I went with Chub which is a little bit more expensive but it gives me peace of mind as it's an agreed value should it be written off and should it need body work it will go straight to Lambo without having to get approval from them. You also get a like for like courtesy car should you need it though if I remember rightly that would add a fair chunk to the excess. Plus they have been really easy to deal with (I went through AIB).

My Aston was insured with Esure when I had a front end and rear end Motorway shunt a few years ago. They wanted a local garage to do the repair but I insisted on it being done by Works Service. The only negative was that the insurance company wouldn't provide a loan car or pay for the transport to the shop as I wasn't using their recommended local repairer (although I ended up with one anyway once the claim moved to the third party insurers and WS collected FOC anyway).
I'm pretty sure you are entitled to use a repairer of your choice provided they are industry registered.
(The total repair bill came to over £30K in the end but the car was like new when they'd finished!)
