I've not driven the Aston, so can't comment on how good/bad/indifferent they are, however I can comment on the 991 side of the debate ...
I would suggest that you test drive a Get 1 and Gen 2 991 GTS back to back as they each have an individual character mainly influenced by the NA and Turbo engine. Only you will know which you prefer when you drive it. For me, the noise and feel of the gen 1 far outweighed the more instant shove and more up to date interior trimmings of the gen 2.
If you are in the Berkshire area, more than happy to take you out in mine so you can see what I mean.

Thanks for your kind offer... I actually already have a 991.2 GTS. My post was just a straw poll to see what others thought. Absolutely no complaints on the GTS, but it lacks a sense of occasion. I realise I will struggle to improve on it's performance, but that would be missing the point. I'm looking for something that stirs the soul a bit more than the GTS. Obviously the dreaded 'depreciation' (there - I said it) is also a factor, however it is a little further down the list of priorities.I would suggest that you test drive a Get 1 and Gen 2 991 GTS back to back as they each have an individual character mainly influenced by the NA and Turbo engine. Ultimately it depends what you want from the car. As both options are convertible, they are more GT/cruising/spirited drive in the country as opposed to balls out track specials, there are many other options out there that could also e worth looking at - Merc AMG GTC, Maserati Grancabrio, and Ferrari California to name but three. Or you could go down the classic route and look at one of these ...

I had the pleasure of driving one of these in the South of France last year for a day, and it was a truly magical experience.
As you already have the GTS, why not try the Aston first and see if it makes your inner 12 year old self jump up and down with excitement (which is quite often my yardstick when buying a fun car !). If it does, there's your answer, if it doesn't, then have a look around - there's loads of amazing cars out there at the circa £100k level to suit every taste and occasion.
I have had both; a 991.1 GTS and 2014 Vanquish with the 6 speed box. The 991.1 was just too efficient and boring to drive and it just blends in as 911's are so popular now. The Vanquish is a more beautiful car, less capable but still engaging along a b road and sounds amazing. I echo the comments about positive responses everywhere you go.
