My E-type I want to keep long term but my modernish supercar slot I want to change regularly. The main thing putting me off is the low price at trade in and the trade margin on the one I'm buying. Offering me £15-20K under retail on the car I'm trading in and also giving them £15 - £20K on the one I'm buying puts me off doing it regularly or at all. I want to try all sorts of supercars then move on to the next. It got me thinking that a "swap shop" thread might be a good way of cutting out the retailer margins and sharing that between us. We know that the majority of pistonheaders are passionate about there cars and look after them. If you want a warranty then you can buy one. What do you think?

I quite like the idea of swapping cars when they don't get used very often - a group of us here regularly swap cars and it makes you appreciate the qualities of yours more!

There has to be a lot of trust involved though.

Mines a McLaren so I'll be looking for an old copy of Woman's Weekly and a bag of cheese and onion crisps.

I was thinking more about swapping ownership not just for a weekend, although that sounds interesting if a little risky. It could be a swap with cash either way. I have a Ferrari 599 2008 to swap

Excellent idea but usually becomes problematic when agreeing valuations.
Need to standardise the criteria by everyone insisting on the same principle for this valuation.
I suggest something like the average price of as many cars of similar year and mileage advertised at retail price as possible. Both parties to agree to this formula as a basis for the deal.

I've got some cheese and onion crisps but no Woman's Weekly, so I'll have to wait till tomorrow when it's depreciated by another 50%

if it depreciates by another 50% then that's 100% and you get to keep the crisps : win win smile

I have a fantastic 2016 Smart ForTwo 0.9 turbo - do not underestimate it - Rear engine, RWD, handles like a 997 GT3 but gives 55MPG. Dual clutch auto too and zero road tax. Would consider a swap for the 599 for a few weeks as I have a large amount of business mileage to do including leaving at the airport & various business hotels around the UK and do not want to put the miles on the Smart. Ideally swap cars plus cash my way as the Smart has newish tyres on. Also I have upgraded the radio of the Smart with a sub box in the boot, does the 599 have a subwoofer? Thanks

I think I’ve still got a Rolf Harris Stylophone, which I would consider swapping for your 599 plus a Rubik’s cube.

No cube, no deal.

The crisps are ASDA's own label ones.
