New McLaren GT
Discussion
Is it me, or is the low profile/seating position of the car seem somewhat counter to a GT model?!
I know you're not exactly sat high in a Conti or DB but from the pictures at least, this looks as low as any other Mc product.
I wonder if that might deter some of the slightly older clientele who want getting in and out a little easier...

I know 911 have circa 11 different variants ranging from £90k to £250k but Mclaren have taken this recipe a bit too far now IMO. Perhaps concentrate on making the core products reliable rather than continually regurgitating variations on a theme in the quest to achieve new sales? GT's a bit bland.
I agree with others they need more to their product line up especially as GTs - many people who can afford their products are perhaps a bit older and may just discount them on the basis of comfort i.e. getting in and out.

I'll admit to having a bias towards Ferrari but I do try to remain objective towards McLaren. I wish them every success as a British company and I'm sure their products keeps the others on their toes. However this car appears very similar to the others cars in their range, just variation on a familiar theme. No doubt a limited run version of it will be along by the of the summer, perhaps with a carbon top box/ski rack :-)
Is it really so similar to the other models? Every marque has a certain design "language" to differentiate itself from other manufacturers so I wouldn't want or expect it to look totally different. However, I think it's sufficiently different, especially the front and rear treatment, to easily differentiate it from other models. These angles are very different to the 570 and 720. And I see this as a replacement for the 570 GT, really.
Look at Porsche for an example of over similarity between models ...

Give me the Bentley anyday for touring over this new model. Like others are saying, a bit too much like the current line up looks wise and older people who possibly have more time for regular touring will prefer or need something easier to get in and out of.
If other peoples wive's are anything like mine then the luggage space will be way too restrictive and rule it out for many.

I think it is similar in that it’s another mid-engine, carbon-tub car with their same V8 engine. Yes, Porsche and Ferrari also share their design language between models but their cars use different engines and configurations (front/mid/rear), as well as carrying different numbers of passengers. McLaren appear to ‘only’ make 2-seat (ok, and one 3-seat) mid-engine cars with the same engine.
