Road Trip advice- Driving to the Dolomites

Was hoping for a few pointers / access to information.
A few of us are planning a cycling trip to the Dolomites and thought it would be a good idea to drive down over a couple of days in our cars.

Once we are there i think we will find some road to drive all by ourselves!!!

Where can i get an outline of a sensible route down over 2 days without using the motorways / autobahns/ auto route too much.
Cant be the first person to have done this and i would appreciate some pointers
