Hi All

My Maserati Spyders roof has stopped functioning 90% of the way down and it now seems there is no power going to it. I have had to close it manaully and when you press the open roof button nothing happens,no noise, nothing. I have tried the battery reset but that has not worked. Does anyone know if there is a safety cut out on the spyder for the roof which I might have activated and If so how to reset it.? Many thanks

Firstly, I know nothing about Maserati's (and you don't say what year your car is), but a quick google found a few responses on the maseratilife forum

From this thread https://www.maseratilife.com/forums/modern-maserat...

"If it is opening approx 2/3 the way and will not allow you to "help" it the rest of the way, I guarantee you the 2nd bow is not coming back and binding on the first bow. What happens is the elastic straps on both sides do not pull back the second bow when the front is released. Then when the front "main" bow comes back, the second bow stays below the first one and once it reaches that point, it is in a bind that if forced will make things very expensive. I bough $12 of 3" wide elastic at the local fabric store and sewed it into a 12" diameter loop. Replaced the old ones and problem fixed until the elastic dries up. No micro switches, no bleeding, nothing. I wish I had a picture to show you. 98% of the convertible tops I've fixed on the Maseratis and the 355 Ferrari have been that problem."

GranCabrio PDF file (if that is your model) https://www.scribd.com/document/201140065/GranCabr...

It seems a common issue, google 'maserati convertible roof problem' for more suggestions

I joined this forum just to respond to Sonic here. I have a 2004 Maserati Spyder (manual 6 speed!) and the top would only go partially down. Top New England Ferrari shop couldn't fix. None of the manual procedures worked. MaseratiLife, with all their forum advice, did not help. Nothing worked and I was beginning to try to figure out what shop can possibly help me, if quite arguably the best independent Ferrari shop in New England couldn't figure it out. Sonic here explained it, with extreme confidence, I might add, such that I decided to try it. I stopped the top half way down, got out and pushed the middle bar back (about an inch or two), resumed dropping the top and voila, all the way down. And then I did the whole thing again, this time being able to push the bar out from the drivers seat. Three things.

1. Sonic, thank you.

2. I can now enjoy the car in nice weather.

3. I know the problem and won't get screwed on diagnosis. I'll be hosed on the cost of the replacement "straps," but at least not on the diagnosis!!

Thank you. Borca
