Hi all,

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but the Audi one is fairly quiet. I know three are a few r8 owners in here though and I was after some thoughts on this car. It's a v10 plus with the rare bucket seats. I'm not sure on the dealer either but it's one I'm considering taking a look at.

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Also how does the plus compare over a standard v10? In an ideal world I'd have a standard spider but the plus intrigues me.
Finally if anyone has experience of the dealer of be grateful.

Looks a nice, clean car. The Plus scores over the base in that it comes with carbon ceramic brakes and passive dampers as standard. The dampers are a bonus imo as they are not prone to premature failure as are the mag rides on the base models. They make for a firmer ride but are in no way too hard or crashy. I'm surprised there are no interior photos as the seats are a real selling point. Certainly something worth checking out as to why. I can't help on the dealer's reputation but a search of dealer reviews may help.

The dealer seem to be directly linked with RPM who have a decently good reputation on Porsches. That car looks good I'd say, fairly rare to find the r8 with bucket seats iirc which make a decent change to the 'standard' seat and the plus drops weight overall and has imo very well judged fixed dampers.

Thank you. I wasn't aware of the standard shocks so that's a bonus in my opinion as the mag ride issues are a little of putting. I'm going to ask the dealer for some interior shots, the additional power - is it noticeable over standard? And what about the important issues such as noisesmile

There are interior pics of the seats on autotrader

That is a bargain

They have reduced it quite aggressively from £62,500 which leads me to think it’s on SOR as it’s too cheap really for the spec if it’s a clean car.

Buy it.

The extra 20+ bhp is not really noticible over stock tbh, but if you get an APR ECU upgrade installed it will take it to around 600bhp.

Just viewed the photos of the interior on Autotrader and while they show more detail, the all-important bolsters are not clearly shown. The rest of the car looks very good so would be surprised if the seats are not in a similar condition, but worth checking anyway.

These feel like great value especially given that the PLUS also benefits from the updated dual clutch S-tronic vs the R-tronic.

Do you mind me asking how you get data on how long a car has been on the market and its reductions? Is this info available to people in the trade only or can anyone access it?

Just been watching the v10 prices on these and a couple of others.

The manual v10 at th boler at £45995 seems a steal to me.

Ok understood, you are clearly a more patient man than me if you are able to monitor prices over so many months smile

The V10's seem incredible value but I expect they will continue to fall a bit more as the Gen 2 prices seem to be falling fast which will further cause downward pressure on the Gen 1's.

I only look every now and then and still see them for sale. It’s not part of my daily routine honest.

Had a 2014 plus which I traded in last yr, seems they've dropped quite a bit since then. At £60k that's a huge amount of car for the money, the buckets were actually a no cost option in the plus but not many specced them which makes them hard to find. Car itself was mighty, very quick and one of the best engines in production, S Tronic well suited to the car. I believe all the carbon on the plus was standard also ( interior, sideblades, engine bay, splitter, diffuser) so they do look bang on in plus spec. At that level you should deal can't see these going much below 50 longer term.

Thanks all, I think I'm going to try and take a look at the blue one on Saturday, it's pretty much on my way home as I need to head to Kent that day.
Aside from the seats and colour there seems no difference between it and the silver one.
Out of interest what year saw the big change to the infotainment system?

The face-lift came out in late 2012 so presume the infotainment got updated then, having said that the sat Nav was still rubbish but I used Waze anyway so no big deal. My main gripe with the car was no Bluetooth music streaming you had to use a connector which was a pain tbh. The driving and overall positive ownership experience far outweighed these small negatives anyway, car received alot of positive attention from the general public.

Using the auto trader app, you can 'save' cars of interest, the app tells you how long the listing has been up, nice easy way to monitor prices, and which cars are selling or not. I'll make the comment pretty much nothing is selling regardless of price, i have cars like a Mk1 Focus RS at £12K right upto F430's at £79K on my 'keep an eye on list on trader' non are selling. Whats even more interesting is the prices that are being bumped up - by dealers despite not selling these cars at lower prices...its quite funny really.

I'm always in the market for something i like, and because i like lots of cars, car types, at all values its interesting to keep a watch.

There is clearly some uneasy times in the car buying market right now, and thats not just classics but moderns as well, a lot of cars hanging around a long time, but dealers also unwilling to do a decent deal, and seemingly happy to keep cars for a long time, maybe they are all on SOR who knows.

Be patient and you'll get a good deal - thats my mantra!i suspect prices of many are only going to come down, unless the dealers are looking to build car museums..:-)

Been for sale 32 weeks + bit of a bargain i think, dont like the silver blades, but they can be easily swapped out for carbon, or wrapped.

I'll bet its SOR as most of their stock is - having tried to deal with them in the past and failed with price negotiation.

Andy, I save cars in Autotrader also.

Are you talking about the bottom left corner under the add saying something like "20 days ago" as that is just the time since you saved it.

Is there somewhere that says how long its been on the market as well as I can't see it on mine?

Yes, i think thats what i mean, let me check on my iPad, this might be the bit i meant, in which case its maybe not a 100% accurate guide over how long for sale, as like you say its when we add the car, what I've also noticed is dealers cancel listings, and relist, maybe that resets some stat counters for them...?

Ebay is the same, i think car and classic shows when the add went up, maybe pistonheads too, either way i keep seeing the same cars week in week out, not selling. I've even attempted to do some deals on some cars, but the dealers want to make serious profits on a trade in, and then dont want to make any efforts on the retail cars, its a weird time to be honest. The gap between a CAP priced trade car, and retail is pretty huge now (even a exact same car/spec) its a dealers world or has been if they can make what they have been doing, maybe this is why times are changing people are no longer playing the game!

Maybe the finer detail is only visible for dealers logins as I've seen on a dealers screen more stats before. there must be a good third party app that can plugin to get stats.
