Am I making the right decision on £215000 budget ?
Discussion
I think it is a question only you can really answer - I would have probably gone 997.2 RS for a little less money and a manual transmission. We all have different requirements, likes and dislikes
Or Challenge Stradale or 675 LT at a stretch or .... endless options nowadays
Congrats on the RS, from what I read it will not disappoint

Personally I would've gone for something else but this is your car not mine so that's irrelevant
However you need to tell us what you're wanting from the car:
- Is it a daily driver or a weekend warrior?
- Are you OK with a lot of attention or want to be more discrete?
- Is depreciation an issue?
- Is reliability important and therefore do you want to be close to a main dealer?
- What's more important - how it drives or how it looks?
- Do you intend to track of modify the car?
Do tell, do tell as you can get a lot of car for £200k.
Also how did you reach the decision to opt for the Porsche? I assume you drove all of the above models?

I think the new RS is an epic car..Ideally you need to start this thread over on the Porsche forums..You'll get pretty much 100% thumbs up there..!
Only 129 were registered in the UK in the first batch and its not a given whether or not any more will come to the UK..Even if a second batch does get here, it'll be hobbled by the GPF making an RS from the first batch the special one IMO.

Well done , was lucky enough to get a new RS , and also lucky enough have driven some of the others on track and the road . The others are a lot more powerful and some weigh less so on track you feel this but the RS has a nice balance and feel .
It is also easier to drive around town as a daily if needed but does not have the supercar wow factor .If it was not for the wing most would not know it is not a C2 .
As with all GT Porsches it will last on track well ..
Most impressive dynamically are the 720S and 675 LT , but will cost more to run .

So i have a budget of £215000 to buy my first supercar/sport car to keep forever( never going to sell the car) until I manage to find more money. I have looked at McLaren 720s , 600LT , huracan performante, Porsche 911.2 GT3RS and at a stretch DBS superleggera . Last week I made up my decision and decided to put down a deposit on a Porsche 911 GT3RS that costs £215000 fully specs.I am not a big Porsche fan boy but I really like the car , on the hand I should have gone with 600lt or performante, did I make the right choice ? bit stress .
Just save up a bit more and get a Bugatti Veyron, that's what im doing. As said depends what you're going to do with it. The RS is a fine machine but its a track car and a bit harsh for a daily in my opinion, That said I had one and regret selling it. The 720 is probably the best allrounder but I'd be concerned with long term reliability and maintenance costs. Performante is a great car I have one of these and with the right seats could be a good Tourer as well as track car and also has is a proper supercar. 600lt would I suppose be a another great car but I'd be nervous of residuals if bought new.
DBS would be a special car and of the crop it would possibly be my choice followed by the Performante as a long termer.

I'd have gone Performante, Lamborghini and its one of the most exotic super cars money can buy, it also drives fantastic and could even be driven daily.
But I love GT 911's and in a perfect world I'd have both, but like you I am now also in a similar position and can only choose one, I still cannot decide.

Obviously you have picked a good car but would not be my choice. But with that amount of money i would not of bought a £141k car, load it with specs to spend that amount of money when i could buy others mentioned and not need to spec it up that much.
Someone please correct me if my cost assumptions are wrong of course.

I think you can’t really look at it as a 141k car - that is a current UK base price deviation. In the rest of Europe it is a 200k ish euro car, so the current market price in the UK is probably broadly in line with the rest of Europe / the “true” price of these cars (obviously very lucky first owners). I wouldn’t be surprised if Porsche eventually increases UK prices to be more in line with the rest and therefore supports the current premiums paid in the Uk secondary market
OP, have you considered an F12?
I loved my 599, it's a great car, but when I got behind the wheel of an F12 I was honestly blown away and didn't stop smiling for about a week. It's an astonishing piece of kit and they've come down in price to a pretty sensible level. Sadly out of my budget at the moment, otherwise I think I'd be snapping up this handsome beast...

You really are spoilt for choice at the £200k mark. Nice dilemma though!

Good car but is it a 215K car ! Personally I would have sat tight and hope they would get to 180K, even that is 20+ over list.
Wouldn't be concerned about the production numbers especially if you plan to drive it as intended.
Have a performante and Gen1 RS, both amazing cars and both have / will get miles on them, for track it's the RS and for street the lambo.
Enjoy your new car and I hope we see you on track soon.
