As a counterpoint to the "Dealer thread", Private sellers......

Why write an advert that talks about the car in question being extremely well looked after and fastidiously maintained etc etc and then show an interior photo like here (Photo 8):

To be fair, he doesn't actually say that he's looked after it at all.

He does tell us that the 'Original Equipment Manufacturers' look after press cars very well, and his "appears" to have been cared for.

How difficult would it have been to take it to the local Tescos or a local car wash for a £40 valet?

How difficult would it have been to hoover it himself and wife a damp cloth over the sills?

Not very. But that's not what you originally complained about.

Its all part of giving the impression its been looked after. Now it gives the impression of being treated like a skip

It’s a 37k, 11 year old R8 that’s probably been ragged all around Manchester most of its life ‘posing’. It’s about what I’d expect tbh.

Not quite sure why you would expect that. £37k is no small amount and selling a car of this type privately is no easy task. Thus you would think the seller would try and optimise his chances by at least making it look presentable.

Don't worry..a dealer will buy it,spend £40 cleaning the car and add 5k on the price and then you'll be happy with the purchasecool

See these cars at this age a lot around Manchester, and they’re all driven by the same type of people. Generalisation I know, but to see one unkempt and with a scratch doesn’t surprise me.

Picture 8 is the interior.

Do you mean picture 5? The thing that looks like a scratch is a reflection.

Maybe his wife just isn't wet?

No wonder, the man’s car looks a mess.

Looks like a reflection to me, as it runs from front wing right onto passenger door, defo reflection.

Thats said, it needs a bloody good interior valet, id never post a pic for a car for sale without hoovering the inside.

Will probs still sell anyway though.

R8's are more of an everyday car, so given it's winter, and the car isn't a huge amount of money, I don't think a dirty mat is the end of the world. If leather wearing shiny like that is commensurate with the mileage on a typical R8, the rest of the interior and in fact the rest of the car looks pretty good to me.

The biggest lemons I ever seen were always clean and detailed. Plenty of people actual care about their mechanicals more than how shinny or clean a car is.
