Sorry if this has already been asked but I’m a little curious over the Chiron that’s up for sale at Joe Macari for £2.6m
Not that I’m under any illusion that I’ll ever be able to afford it but why is it that EU taxes would need to be paid for when the car’s been previously registered (ie. 2nd hand)
Wouldn’t the initial owner have already forked out for this such as any other ‘normal’ car?

I assume it has been ised in the EU but not originally supplied here and yet to be registered as imported with HMRC and DVLA

Doh... I hadn’t considered that, I was thinking it was a UK car!

Lebanon?!? So, technically speaking, are there be any differences to a UK model or would any purchaser in this country have to ship the car back to Bugatti in order for them to convert it?

And, on a slightly different matter, if someone had really REALLY deep pockets couldn they pay Bugatti a bucket load of cash to engineer a RHD one-off?

The difference you may find is the unique air filters manufacturers use in the Middle East in order to prevent sand/dust from getting into the engine.

Thanks for that, even though this is just a ‘fantasy’ query it’s reassuring to know that not everyone on PistonHeads likes to berate or chastise others for their lack of knowledge.
Thanks a lot guys.

Saw one in the flesh in Strasbourg at the weekend (there is one on display in a glass box in the city centre, Bugatti’s headquarters are nearby). Looked very nice but we had to rule it out as it didn’t look like our child’s car seat would fit.

Wait a God damn second there buddy... are you seriously telling me that if I spent the best part of £4m on a car that I CAN’T have it with ISOFIX points in the passenger seat even though you can with an R8/Hurracan (or so I’ve been told)

Couldn’t see any Isofix in the passenger seat, the wife was prepared to hang onto the spoiler as well.

As far as I know, it was a European delivered car, transported straight to Lebanon, registered there and now been for sale at HR Owen Bugatti Mayfair and finally now at Joe Macari's.

Regarding a RHD Chiron or Veyron, the answer is no, I know of somebody who offered a considerable amount of money for one, and was flatly told no.

Surprising, jim glickenhaus was close to getting something sorted with them at one point in the Veyron days, iirc it was the spare parts package that killed the deal but he said they were otherwise very accommodating
