I'm looking to buy a useable sports car that I can modify. The car will be used 2-3 times a week, as a fun car that is not used for commuting. The car needs to be a manual.
The three options I'm looking at are:
1. Ferrari 360 Spider, full challenge stradale kit, including exhaust, brakes, carbon seats etc.
2. Early Lamborghini Gallardo, Trofeo kit, RWD conversion
3. Early 6 speed Aston Martin V12 Vantage, GT4 styling, full exhaust, cams etc. circa 600bhp and comes as RWD as standard.
I have priced up the various modifications and all three cars cost around the same once finished.
Which would you choose and why?

Personally, I wouldn't want any of them but that's a personal dislike of anything modified.
They're all great looking and driving cars as they left the factory IMHO. All great and all very different so you really need to drive them to find which one you prefer.
^^^This. I appreciate we are all different though. They're all great looking and driving cars as they left the factory IMHO. All great and all very different so you really need to drive them to find which one you prefer.
But as standard cars the V12V without a doubt!
My viewpoint is different to above. Factory build has to cater for legislation, budget and variance between models. You can often make improvements, e.g. sports exhaust, carbon seats etc, that make a good thing even better. The proviso is that the mods are reversible, and the car could be put back to std.

Need more detail. I see you live in London, does 'fun' mean using it to go out at night and cruising the high street (god forbid), or heading out to the home counties and blatting about some country lanes? I'm presuming the latter based on the preference for manual and in that case weight (or lack of of) should be your biggest consideration. I would go for the 360, strip as much as you can out of it, improve brakes and suspension, increase power, job done.

Thanks for the replies so far. I understand it is not for everyone, I'm going to be modifying it to be my perfect car.
Its going to be going out to country lanes rather than drive in town. I initially bought a Porsche Turbo Cabriolet that was slightly modified but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I want something that moves around a bit more and is a bit playful hence my preference for RWD too.

Could't agree more, I did the same with my 430 and it's made a great car into my perfect fun car. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
