F1 gearbox Ferrari's advertised as manuals????

On some of the adverts for various Ferrari's they advertise them as manual when they're F1 transmission.
In theory they are both operated manually but slightly misleading in these days of gear stick having a premium over paddle shift, blatantly obvious when you see pictures of inside the car I know.
Any reason for it?

I don't get why people do it as somebody looking for a manual will not buy an F1 (and somebody buying F1 will then possibly miss the car)
For me these F1 cars are simply an Auto, if you dont use the paddles it changes for you, simple, and because it does not have a clutch pedal its not a manual you dont need your left foot to change gear. Sure the technicality is its a automated manual, but for me its operated by the driver as an auto.
My view is that traders are of course trying to get more clicks, and buyers interested in the F1 cars, knowing full well the Manual cars are more desirable, its marketing fudge, it annoys me as well.
The same issue with E46 M3's as many have SMG 'boxes and it works in the same way as the F1 box. Same with the Maserati Gransport they use F1 box, but they are all listed as Autos which to me is correct.
Not much you can do about the ad's, a seller can list a car anyway he/she wants, i just look at the first interior pic, if its F1 move on.

I would describe the F1 box the same way I describe the eGear in Lambos, in that it is manual without the clutch pedal. They do have a full Auto mode, but certainly with the eGear, the driving experience is not great as it constantly changes gears and your clutch will last about 5 minutes with any prolonged use in this mode, especially in slower traffic. I would imagine the F1 is similar since it is very much the same principle. It is not the same as DCT Fully automatic boxes that most people associate as being auto.
However, most people when they say Manual mean that there is a pedal for the clutch and a stick in the middle to change gear with. In that sense it is misdescribed. But I see the argument from both sides as it can be perceived as a bit of a grey area.

Sorry can’t help, I have never tried the auto mode in the F1 car. in the DCT car it is like a normal auto I’d say, maybe a little less smooth (although my experience of normal autos is not that extensive)Raygun said:

If i recall they cost more as well, even the F430, but look how the tables turned, and i guess its down to supply/demand, but also the purist wanting that theatre of the open gated shift, and the more analogue driving experience, i know this is the draw to me personally, and why i didn't buy an SMG M3, and why i would not really want a F1 F355.I wonder how things would be if the production numbers were reversed between F1 and manual?
As prices rise of the stick shift cars, i'm sure buyers will turn back to the F1 with more favour.
Beyond F1 / Manual the standard of supercar adverts is generally absolutely shocking. Both trade and private. You only have to look through a few of the ads on here before you come across those with no interior pictures at all; number plates photoshopped out by a 2 year old; blurb that tells you the Wikipedia description of a 360 Modena (or whatever it is) but nothing whatsoever about the particular car being advertised; photos not of the actual car (assuming there is an actual car for sale); not bothering to state or show whether it is LHD or RHD, let alone F1, manual or automatic; not stating the colour (even with good photos it is not always obvious what the shade/factory colour is); no info on service history etc. etc. In all cases the advertiser wants you to part with a big chunk of money for the car they're selling but can't be bothered to put even the minimum of effort into the advert.

Surely when it comes to a 355, 360, 430 we all know that a manual with a proper gate and beautiful stick is what we are looking for when we filter manual.
