Safe to drive to other places around Italy after Maranello?
Discussion
Planning road trip to marenello and wondering where to go afterwards.
Is it safe to go further south than Florence (e.g to Rome, assuming further down it'll get a bit rough?) and how are the roads, I remember the italian side of stelvio pass when I went there years ago was horrendous and the porsche boxster I had at that time was attracting quite a bit of unwanted attention in Milan?
Thinking maranello, florence, rome and car ferry to sardinia&corsica.

Indeed looking to take the Ferrari.
Hearing bad things about the Italian drivers, what is it about them that is problematic?
Also the ferry from Italy to Sardinia, has anyone done the journey, wondering if there will be sufficient ground clearance
Been taking my Ferraris to Italy for 15+ Years, never had a problemHearing bad things about the Italian drivers, what is it about them that is problematic?

I did a 3 week tour down from Rotterdam in July visiting Milan, Alfa museum, Portofino, Porto Santo Stefano, Spoleto, Amalfi, Pompeii, Lago di Bolsena, Florence, Brescia and then back up to the ferry at Rotterdam.
I took my F12 and didn't have any problems at all. The Italians love Ferrari. I pre booked parking at all the hotels and also in Florence (we stayed in the Borghese Palace Art Hotel and there is a premium parking place literally next door) and Portofino (there's a premium parking place on the left as you get to the town, not the public parking garage).
The roads are a bit crap south of Florence though. Potholes etc, even on the motorways. I just went carefully and didn't have any problems.
Have a great trip. Watch out for the average speed cameras all over the Italian motorways. I just made sure I didn't go faster than the locals as I couldn't make head nor tail of which cameras were what.

LEG ,you were spotted in Rapallo I believe in June or July by a PHer who went to the same car event as me near Piacenza.
I also took the same pic by the old Ferrari factory, albeit with a FIAT and went to Arese museum in 2016.
Went through there 29th of June on the way into Portofino and on the way out on the 1st of July.I also took the same pic by the old Ferrari factory, albeit with a FIAT and went to Arese museum in 2016.
That's my most distant PH 'spotted' yet.

I got confused after seeing another F12 at the event in Castell D' Arquato with an F12 plate, turned out it wasn't you....

That Disco Volante is stunning!
Unbelievably stunning mate. I sat on the floor, cross legged with my DSLR sat on my lap for twenty minutes just looking at it at the museum. One of the staff came over to ask if I was ok and I just smiled, pointed at the car and said, 'sbalorditivo'. She just smiled and walked away.More pics from the Museum here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.63426419...
The Disco Volante is stunning but the museum is full of stunning Alfas. Pre 70s they were just nailing it...
Well worth a visit. The Auto Technica museum, just outside Stuttgart (where the F12 is above with Concorde) is worth a visit too, as are Porsche and in particular the Mercedes museum which is absolutely superb. BMW in Munich is good too. But, I get gooey eyed at the Alfas. I have a 64 Alfa Giulietta Sprint myself, prettiest car I own and bizarrely never broken down.
Italian drivers - male Italian drivers - are exasperated by the British habit of leaving enough room. If two moving cars travelling in opposite directions could pass through a gap, they can see no reason whatsoever for waiting politely. So your problem is knowing the width of your car exactly and passing parked cars, cyclists and walls with 2mm to spare. They might give you a bit of slack in a Ferrari. Especially if it's red.
This is based on my experience a few years ago on the roads around Lake Como. We drove down in my wife's beloved car - not a Ferrari - but she wouldn't drive. She spent all her time calling on me to not pass so close to obstacles on her right while simultaneously pressed up against me for protection from cars passing at speed millimetres away on her left. That's a right hand drive car driving on the right.
It's all down to their impatience.

Hi guys.
I've done Italy twice in my 360 but Lake Garda, Lake Como, Marrenello, Modena, then down to Rapallo and across to Monaco etc. is as far down as I've been in it.
I'm down in Tuscany at the moment and chose to fly and rent a car from Pisa airport and have lost count to the amount of times in the last 5 days both me and the wife have said thank God we're not in the Ferrari.
So far we've done Pisa, Florence and Lucca. The Italian drivers are honestly a breed of there own.
It's hard to put it into words but there nuts the lot of them, even though that's often been said about me in the past I have nothing on these people, I wouldn't want them anywhere near my car.??
If you want to have an amazing trip based around your car then do it, you will always find somewhere safe to leave it with enough research, but if you want to visit the places and generally enjoy them and explore then use a hire car, so less stressful.
The roads are beyond bad also, I can remember some of the roads round Modena being bad but I can't remember them being as bad as this area.
My road trips have been the most amazing experiences but I wouldn't come to this area unfortunately.

That's lovely to hear that people are making successful trips and not having any issue with bad attention towards the car itself. If I'm not able to park it in secure parking overnight am I asking for trouble?
Thanks for sharing the pictures of the car museum, also looking at the f12 does not get tiring.
