A well specced 181 mile 2017 720S for £50k under list available right now is either a superb bargain and a reason to never ever pay the full price for a prancing horse or else....not so good news for McLaren owners.
Personally I'd go with the former. Tempted.

There seems to be some misconception that buying a super car, is basically a no cost or a profitable exercise.. Especially if you sell it on quickly with a few miles on the clock..
Well those days are over imo, and while there are some exceptions to the rule, even the Porsche GT’s are starting to soften, due to oversupply and ‘investment’ opportunity starting to minimise..
Currently there’s 3600 cars for sale over £100K on PH, and I don’t believe there’s anything like that number of potential customers, especially when you factor in those that like to buy their car ‘new’..
I suspect that most are now starting to follow a more conventional depreciation curve, ie 20-30% hit as you drive it out the showroom door, and 10-15%/yr thereafter.
I’m not surprised at the price of that particular car, as the market isn’t valuing that model highly despite the rave reviews it’s received.. Perhaps a case of too many similar variations on a similar theme??

In todays economic climate thete is always someone that needs to liquidate funds to invest back in their business or buy a house etc so these cars will pop up. It's not the rule but does undermine the market value.
Great for a buyer not so good for seller or owners.
Coupled with being unpopular and plentiful launch spec it's no wonder it's priced competitively and Ton Hartley always prices sharply and kicks you in nuts on px or a cash deal

I wouldn't be surprised if TH paid £170k for it ...Great for a buyer not so good for seller or owners.

Tom Hartley senior has another launch model for £220k so £30k under list?
I've got over the bite your arm off and slink away to avoid waking it if you woke up next to it and it was lying on your arm looks from the front and actually quite like them now.
Is it the case that everyone wants the LT version of the 650 and is waiting for the LT version of the 720S? If so McLaren can't be endearing themselves to loyal customers.

I’d say it is reasonably normal - it is not like buying GTC4 Lusso and a 488 every couple of years to get closer to being able to buy a Pista is “free motoring” (at least it is not if II want to keep the Pista and not be blacklisted)
Imo just drive the bloody cars and not constantly worry about what they are worth is a much healthier approach ...

LT version is some way off. Spider is in development but been slightly delayed and then final hooray to model will be LT so could be 2021/2 evenI've got over the bite your arm off and slink away to avoid waking it if you woke up next to it and it was lying on your arm looks from the front and actually quite like them now.

Why not?
Not hardcore, not limited and whole host of subjective reasons. Undoubtedly a very capable car but still not exciting or one for me although I would admit it has grown on me a little but no where near enough to buy one still.I would probably even pass on the LT version based on the regular production cars looks

Firstly it's about 30k under list. A lot of the money on that car was for the overpriced luggage.
Secondly, it's a very poor spec. Lots of key options missing. Luxury spec. Zero carbon.
Hence, undesirable.
But a bargain for someone willing to accept that spec.
Honestly the worlds gone mad..... I think this car looks lovely and is totally desirable. Paying an extra £20-£30k for a load of worthless tat stick on carbon fibre that adds NOTHING to the driving experience. Get it bought and enjoy it.........Secondly, it's a very poor spec. Lots of key options missing. Luxury spec. Zero carbon.

Offered 195k for it today, no reply as yet...
Fairplay and good shout. Fantastic buy at that price and have to be in with a genuine chance depending on how many enquiries they have already had on it this week.
I would of thought their phones have been quite hot at that keen price.
Definitely seeing a few more cars are moving now the prices have been adjusted
