Guys,
Dilemma, long time no speak

Already got a dipper down on a 570s but just seen the v12vs brand new one at amari! In yellow and it looks superb!

Heads saying 570s
Heart says v12vs

I know New vantage is about to drop so is it old hat now ??

Ahhh the choices!

Any suggestions from current owners of both

570S for me. I was tempted to buy a manual V12 vantage though.
The McLaren just felt a bit more supercar and less GT cruiser. Aston felt old and heavy in comparison
Depends what you want from the driving experience as they are totally different.
The main attraction of the Aston was the manual V12 and I wouldn't of wanted a sportshift car

Yes the v12v is a sports shift I’ve had a v8 manual vantage before , had 430, gallardo etc but this is my first brand new car and the McLaren I think is where I’m going to go as I think it’s a relative bargain

Yellow is a real marmite colour and can depend on shade and whether its pearlescent etc... It suits certain sports / super cars but IMHO its probably not the best colour for an Aston Martin. I prefer classic black, silver or white with an Aston martin vantage.
Yellow is probably a bit too bright an in yer face for the typical aston customer when you come to sell it.
Probably why its priced like it is.

Now a McLaren 570S in volcano yellow is simply stunning especially contrasted with black carbon or even to a lesser extent the palladium finish

Agree on the manual, as I have a V12V and a V12VSR due any day.

I drove the 570S spider a few weeks ago, and have a very different view. It felt so capable and effortless that I just didn't find it involving or interesting to drive. I felt like to have an exciting drive i would have to be going 20-30 MPH faster everywhere. I.e. License losing territory. The idea that a V12VS is a gt cruiser though is ridiculous. It is very much a supercar, though perhaps in an old fashioned way, which I just find so much more fun.

Viewed the next gen Vantage yesterday, as whilst I think it will be a great success, people will only appreciate the raw driving pleasure of a V12V when it's gone.

As usual with these things though, there is no wrong answer. Both incredible cars and it depends what the OP wants himself.

There is already speculation that there will not be a V12 derivative of the new Vantage so the existing one may be the last!

It's a great problem to have and I'd say go with your heart as it's a car you should love!

my problem was with the vantage being kind of old hat nintendo and the 570s being a supercomputer, ive had a v8 vantage before and did like it but what will hold up better depreciation wise aswell? considering both are new ish 570s is a 17 plate with 2k miles and the vantage is a 67 plate with delivery miles

I can see manual V12 Vantages becoming vey desirable in the future, that old school super car wrapped up in a relatively new(ish) body / tech, it's the perfect blend of old / character / usability.

I would like to upgrade to one but frankly can't afford it at the moment.

Very different cars and only you will know which suits your needs and driving style more.

I have a 570s and wouldn't hesitate to recommend one, they are really epic cars in the way they do just about everything. Fast, dramatic, comfortable and bang up-to date. My very good mate has just got a beautiful V12s Vantage and whilst its still blisteringly quick, Rambo is right in that it is very much a (very) fast GT rather than the junior Supercar McLaren. In really simple terms the Aston is old-school where the 570s is a very modern approach and that follows in looks (subjective), in cabin design, and on-the-road dynamics. Both equally quick on the road but both very different.

For me it would always be the 570s, for him it would be the Aston, it's just our preferences but there is no wrong answer.

Also, don't be fooled into thinking the manual is the better Vantage, he drove V12's with both and hated the manual but loves the sportshift. I had a manual Vantage V8 and the clutch and gearbox were also terrible.

Is it the manual? If yes, obviously, if it is the paddle shift, don't bother and go 570. The vantage v12 mt will be a unicorn in a couple of years.

If I could have both I would, a 570S coupe to go with the V12 manual roadster would cover all bases for me.

As previously mentioned they are very different cars, the 570 is quicker and bang up to date, lighter and more agile. The V12 is heavy in comparison but counters with beauty and an awesome soundtrack, especially when de-catted, plus It's still no slouch in isolation and can be punted along at a decent lick.

If it were a manual Vantage in something other than yellow I'd go with that, otherwise the 570. If you're going to have an analogue sports GT or supercar it needs to be analogue and not some half-measure IMO. I get the argument with the need for both hands on the wheel while going for it, and with the V12VS and 565bhp+ it makes a degree of sense, but I'd sooner make do with 510, 6 speeds and a clutch pedal.

I look forward to seeing what you decide upon! smile

Is it really necessary to be so objectionable in all your postings? Have you ever stopped to picture yourself standing next to the car and owner before posting? Do you really believe that now?

I believe that most people are completely ignoring him when he pops up to post his childish rubbish: Seems to work.

Just look at his/her posting history. Full of either inaccurate rubbish or opinions (most intended to stir things up) that are stated as fact. Basically adding no value to most threads.

Some posters are best ignored and he/she is definitely one of them.

All imo of course wink

I owned a V12 Vantage S (SportShift III). I was interested in the 570S and tried to get a day with the car. It took me literaly 10 seconds to know, that I will sell my Aston and buy the McLaren.

Why ? I always thought "well, the Aston is the old fashioned sports(mini-Super)car and it is nice to feel the shifts". Like it is more emotional than the other cars. BUT to be honest: If you aren`t a skilled pro it is hard to get the power on the street with the Vantage. Front motor, rear wheel drive and a heavy car. If you push a little to hard the rear breaks out.

Everything is nice and handmade. But after a while I started thinking, that this is clever marketing to make you feel having a car that is state of the ART (in capital letters).

So, if you are a guy who would rather buy a DB5 (if you could affort) and are in love with the old fashioned way, than you can buy a V12S. If you are not, don't do it.

We have had a Porsche Boxster S (981) and a 911 cabrio - even the Boxster S was seen only from behind in the Aston. So if you have a new V12S and cars half as expensive a quicker, than it is not so amusing.
IMHO

P.S.: I live in Germany where you can try to speed up to the max. Don't trust 0-100 figures; what I meant is in real life (curves etc). Here you will have trouble against the Boxster s, whereas the 570S will challange the Turbo S and (might) win.
