Maserati Spyder Roof Failure
Discussion
Hi,
Anyone got any experience on troubleshooting a dead roof !
It got stuck in around the midway stage of closing, it thought
about it for abit, could fully open again but could never get
it fully closed.. Now pushing the button, nothing (dead) !
Have now closed it using the manual method but not a noise when
pushing the roof button, maybe that is normal cos something gets
disabled when running the manual closure procedure.
Thoughts? (yes i know, should of bought a coupe!!!)

Nothing much to add other than we have a nearly matching car set - 4200 spyder and 996 turbo s cab !
Any hydraulic leaks anywhere get the back and tonneau open and look at the pipework are the hydraulic rams all attached (they look like bonnet/boot piston things). Does the back unscrew from the boot - the two pegs?
Compare to mine if you need to.

There are several microswitches on the capote system that can cause issues if they become missaligned. Also,Check the roof just rearward of the rear view mirror. Is it damp/smells of oil? The latch cylinder in the front is prone to failure. The car needs hooking up to an SD2 for proper diagnosis.
