I am a newbie to the f430 having purchased it few weeks ago - the car is just great but i have had a couple of problems come up over the last week or so - i will get it shown to the dealer but just wondering if anyone had anything similar and can possibly help....

1. Essentially to get out of my underground parking space, I have to move it forward and backwards a couple of times – when doing so, this triggers a beep sound (similar to the beep sound when the car goes from gear to neutral whilst stationary for some time) which comes on when I press the accelerator (and stops when i take my foot off the gas) and then goes away when the car gets to some speed (say 10km/h) or so. this then does not re-appear when i stop at traffic lights etc.

2. I was driving the car in paddle shift mode last night and suddenly the car put itself in “auto” mode, became really sluggish and the “auto” sign on the dash started flickering. Whilst this happened, the car didnt switch gears automaticallly.

3. The radio on the car suddenly stopped giving any sound the other day – the display and everything was working but there was no sound on either the radio or the sat nav i.e. I could see the radio channels but whatever volume you turned up the radio to, it didn’t produce any sound – I checked that it wasn’t on mute – yesterday when I switched it on, the sound came back on.

any help / advice / thoughts appreciated....

1) that is just the warning that the clutch is getting hot. Tends to happen quite a lot with paddle shift cars that have to be manoevrued around a bit for parking. Can't help on the other 2 but typically these random electrical faults tend to go away when the car is restarted so if it happens again do ask the dealer.

2. Speak to the dealer, bit worrying that
3. I suspect it has a separate amp that is failing, the ones Ferrari/ Maserati used are Italian built, high quality components by all accounts but prone to failure and unrepairable (ask me how I know!) Price for a new one is £900 +VAT from Eurospares

If it has warranty, Ferrari will just insist that you need a new clutch, at cost to you.

As per F355GTS: Ask me how I know!

I know of two other 430s (apart from my old one) with strange gearbox/clutch/suspension behaviour, linked to an electrical fault that they can't pin down. Hope yours isn't another one and you get it sorted. It isn't normal though, and a weak battery can cause a few symptoms but don't let them fob you off on that one if your battery is fine and the car gets used/sits on a trickle charger.

Has it got front parking sensors? They beep when starting beeping at low speed to let you know they are on. I think it only happens if you have used reverse to trigger them. Once you go over a certain speed the warning beep stops. It is in the owners book. I was confused at first and thought it was the high clutch temperature warning until I read up the owners book.

^^this.
If not it may need a simple pis adjustment to the clutch...

It sounds like the front parking sensors if the beeping goes away above a certain speed.

I was told that it was not a good idea to reverse the car on slopes, or for any extended period of time. Not sure if you're doing that, but it might explain the clutch getting hot (if indeed that is the fault).

It could need the PIS adjusting, too, as suggested above.
