'06 car. In for service and it needs two new exhaust manifolds. I read somewhere that Ferrari cover these for 8 years, but the dealer wants £2k for them.

Anyone have a definitive answer?

Thanks.

You need to push your dealer to put in a goodwill request to Ferrari, this is a very well known issue, you shouldn't need to pay for it.

I didn't.

Yes fit the capristo ones because the precat wont break up and then fly back in and lunch the engine. Its rare but does happen.

Not getting anywhere with this, dealer saying there's no chance without a warranty.

as i've just posted in another thread...........mine is in as we speak for service, manifolds and a few other bits.warranty doesn't cover the manifolds so it's 1500 quid straight up the jacksie i'm afraid.plus the cost of service and so on!

think i'll leave lowering it until next time when i've had more time to lube up before bending over the desk!!

Depends on what warranty and who your dealer is whether your manifolds are covered. Small chance if you have the Power Train warranty. Power Normal does not cover it either, however, you could and should get a goodwill gesture which may pay towards the labour or even pay for the manifolds. This will of course depend on the service history of the car. More chance of getting goodwill if your car sees main dealers only.

The car has only been serviced at the same main dealer all it's life.

Given the relatively short life span of manifolds on F355's and 430's, surely a long term solution would be to fit some quality after market ones, or would this effect the warranty?

listening to the advice apparently the stainless itself is too thin for the job.fking mental really when the problem has been evident for years

i'm now out of the main dealer network so doesn't apply to me i'm afraid!!it's not the end of the world and as i said in the aston "fezza wobble" thread, this past 12 months have been my favourite from a motoring perspective yet.
i've had some exotic(to me at least)metal over the last 12-15 years and still look forward to the day i get me grubby mits on a 458.i'm not put off in the slightest!

The first post here on page 3 refers to a new, uprated manifold. Does this mean that once changed they are no longer a problem?

Along with the exhaust mounting breaking this is a very well known manufacturing defect. There is a modification done. Mine was an 08 car and were replaced under warranty at 3 years old.

Very bad show from Ferrari for a design defect they are clearly only too aware of. However, I guess they are right to ask for at least a commitment from the owner of a renewed warranty if you want them to look after the car. Out of warranty it is down to good will. If they are charging 2 grand maybe worth seeing if an after market item is better designed for the job.

Are there any early warning signs for this?

Is that 2k parts only or including fitting? and including or plus VAT?

All helps in preparing a battle plan for what could go wrong when I find the right car,

I'm on a 57 plate, bought 8 months ago from Ferrari dealer with 2 year power normal warranty. No way I will pay for this if mine go. Argue until you are blue in the face if you have to.

Had my exhaust mounts done no problem, also 1 front headlight changed as it had some "streaks" of water marks on the inside of the lense.
