I didn't like the way the F1 looked at first either but this is growing on me and I'd have one for sure

I think the failing lies in thinking you can step in the same stream twice - Murray produced what he believed was the ultimate car with the F1, a dream transformed into a compelling reality. Yes, you can point to incremental gains on the T50 but it doesn’t have a visionary genesis. I’d be much more keen on him developing his ideas on streamlining and light weighting production - an area where he might make another exponential leap rather than squandering his undoubted talent on going from revolution to rather studied evolution of what are now branded hypercars.
+1

I think we will see this next....

Agreed but would you really have a T50 over a Zonda, or even a Carrera GT for that matter?
UK based owner who owns both gives His opinion.

In short T50 is a CGT turned to eleven.

Sound comparison

Right, here me out and I know this is going to blow up in my face like a fresh recruit with a grenade, buttt.

The GMA T.50 is getting A LOT of press these few days with the first cars being delivered. I am finding I just can’t gel with the design. I understand its designed for function over form, with huge focus on driver visibility and aerodynamics but it just doesn’t appear cohesive in design. The rear fan system is a great piece of engineering but the integration doesn’t work in my eyes. The front is better but too snake like, the 720s got killed for that kind of appearance. The top profile rake is also a little off.

Interior is mostly lovely but those side mirror screens look nearly as out of place as the mercedes infotainment units in Aston Martins.

Don’t get me wrong that howling v12 and manual gearbox are insane and hearing it at goodwood is stunning but I wish the design was more emotive.

Side thought, why is there such a focus on aero with the fans when its meant to be a focused road car where the driving emotion is to be felt in lower speeds? Doesn’t add up.
Totally agree. Magnificent powertrain and ethos behind lightness. But the back is gopping! And its interesting that the concept pics had a better shape!

compared to the thing we actually got!

The T50s version is "slightly better" at the rear!

Twin rear lights and hide the fan (rough scribble) and it looks a lot tidier. Even with the rear wing.

AND it reminices about F1

I would posit that if Gordon hadn't fallen out with Peter Stevens, we might have got a better design! hehe

Stevens was obviously F1 chief designer,

but also did XJR-15

and the Subaru Impreza WRC.

So he gets it!

Hmmm. I think the arse end of the f1 is it weakest angle. It’s bland.

I really like the styling treatment of the fan on the T50. It’s functional, not pretty but certainly is a point of focus.

The Mercedes V12 AMG engine in the Paganis is legendary. I get what GM has accomplished with this engine but it does not have the proven history of the engine in the Pagani (watch this Harry’s Garage video on the engine - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhX0Y2wQfqo).

For that reason it would be Pagani all day everyday.

Pagani V12 (Mercedes derived) is ancient compared to T50 Cosworth.

Age has nothing to do with the how good an engine is. Once it is right it is right. There are certain engines that are just brilliant and always will be. The Mezger engine for example is renowned for its racing pedigree and bullet proof build quality. I would always take a proven engine anyway. The V12 AMG is nenowned as one of the best V12s ever made.

I’m lucky enough to have seen a couple of T50’s on the road…the blue car that they used for testing near Milbrook and I’ve seen the purple one that Mr DK Engineering owns. I think it looks absolutely fantastic…I love the simplicity of it to be honest it looks so much cleaner than other modern hyper/super cars. Admittedly the rear is not great but it is the cars USP. The engine is another league.

It will be very interesting when the latest hyper cars from Ferrari and McLaren get driven as people will no doubt draw comparisons. I know where my money is going on being the best drivers car.

If you mean your actual money, I speculate it won't be much of a driver's car as such, it will be an "investment", as will be the case for most of its buyers. If I am wrong please excuse me but I think these cars are now irrelevant and will be much more rarely driven than the older hypercars. Also I'm sure they will change hands at stupid money with no miles on them.

I am much less interested in the current crop of hypercars than I was when they brought out the 718, the P1 and the LaF. And even then they were mostly heading towards garage queenery than Brands Hatch, Anglesea or the Alps.

And I'm on the its very ugly side of this debate. As to being overhyped, I think it has been exactly hyped to the right degree to serve its actual purpose. It's almost an asset class, not a car.
