Hi all again.
As I told before, I started to work on the car finally.
In Italy it's really difficult to find someone who knows something about TVR cars....so I really need and appreciate your helps.
I think that icould be a good idea to start only one topic for all my questions...
I don't want to mess around the forum with all my topics... angel

So.....let me start with a couple of things..

1: My cigar lighter is broken.
How the hell do you dismantle it?
I can't figure out how to get behind it.
And I can't even figure out how it was originally attached because parts are missing.
Could someone take a picture?

2: Gear leather gaiter: it's the only part really worn of the interior.
I want to change it with a new one.
This morning I took it apart without problem...but all the lower part isn't fixed to the gearbox tunnel in any way....
How tho part it's originally fitted to the tunnel?

It goes without saying how much your help is appreciated.....

Thanks ALOT bow

Hi all.
New work, new question....
I started to work on the helmet holder to fix the upholstery which seems a little bit tired.
I had use some special M3 tapes to "glue" leather and carpet.
The problem is that, when I took apart the helmet holder, I discovered that isn't any fixing at all: someone put only a really poor bihadesive on the base of the mould which touch the central electric loom......
Could you please help me and let me know how this part is originally fitted?
1999 Cerbera so Tuscan style seats.
Thanks

This is the final result.
Much better now.
Unfortunately I don't know how to fix it without any fastening......

I love the fact everyone's got various different modifications going on around the silver key, cigar lighter and ashtray / no ashtray

Success today with my drill / dremel sander bit strategy, and shiny new USB charger and Volt Meter installed in the enlarged hole - I work a mask and used a hand hoover as fibre glass dust is meant to be particularly bad to inhale

Now if I can just work out what the switch in the ashtray does, which I would swear was a fuel cut off switch until I tested it yesterday and it did exactly not that and the car started and ran fine in both positions...

Passenger Ejector seat. You must have a broken wire somewhere if you've been flicking it.
Obviously with the fixed roof, It pops the door to door open and tips the passenger out sideways..

Tomorrow morning I'll start with mechanical stuff:

-Compression Test
-new oil
-new oil filter
-new air filter
-new fuel filter
-new differential oil
-new gearbox oil
-valves clearance
-new brakes pump

It will be a long week......

As usually, I need to ask some info:

-could you please tell me what values I have to expect about compression?
I had read some here but anytime are different values....
Is it maybe because of the way you perform the test?

-could you please let me know what clearances I have to put on exhaust and inlet valves?
As before, too many different info.....
Maybe because different cc needs different values?
I don't know....

N.B. My Cerbera is a 4.0 speed six

Some updates....

As I told in the first post, I have to change a too worn to be used gear leather gaiter.
Maybe the handbrake gaiter too will be changed..

I maybe found a leather which is quite similar to the old one but still differs a little.
So I'm thinking about a different solution...

The under part of the cushion seat it's made in the same original leather of the gaiter but with a little more smooth grain.
The cushion's foam seems to be tired also...
Can I maybe open the cushion to change the foam and use the under part to made new gaiter?
Then I'll use another material for the under part which it's out of sight....
What do you think about?
And what thickness a new foam cushion usually is?

After a good clean

Hi all....
While I'm working on the gearbox, a couple of questions about things I don't understand:

-At idle (900rpm), all lights (gauges, cabin, headlamps....even the radio!) wobbling.
Only if I reach 1200rpm they stopped.
Alternator SHOULD be ok....what do you think about?

-While I'm dismantling the exhaust to take apart the gearbox, what a surprise to find that one of the two catalyst it's completely empty! confused
Really don't like the idea that 3 cylinders work with cat and 3 without....so I think I'll decat everything.
What do you think about?

Sounds like you need a new battery. It probably took a bit of a hammering when your alternator wasn’t charging due to the big fuse issues you had.
I thought the same...

Waiting for repair gearbox, I started some works on the interior.
As told before, I would like to replace rubber and leather gear lever gaiters, hanbrake leather gaiter and cigar lighter.
I started to remove everything it's needed to remove the central console BUT i need some advice about what to do with the gauges pod: what do you do with this once everything else it's done?
Is it necessary to disconnect everything or is it possibles to let all gauges fitted and remove the all group?
Regards

OK. Maybe I solved it. I'll try to remove the entire instrument cluster through the hole in the dashboard when I remove it. Now the entire console and dashboard are free and move. But I have another question: what procedure is there to dismantle the handbrake lever with as little disassembly as possible? Thank you.....

Ok ok....solved this too....
Now...why does the console still seems to be stuck in the area behind the radio?
Is there anything else that could stop it to come out?
I removed 2 bolts on each side of the console and 4/5 screws behind it....

Ac control panel done.
The ribbon cable connector was so stuck to let me think it's soldered.....but it isn't....

Now only window buttons left.
How can I disconnect these?
I don't find any connectors

Andea7,

There should be connectors further along the loom.

If you can't find them - I'd be more inclined to cut the wires and add new connectors when you've removed the console. I wouldn't damage the fibreglass since that's the only support the switches have.
Thanks a lot.
Seems that my right t and left switches looms started separate but join together in one bigger loom after 20 centimeters or so.....not like the one in your picture!
I'll try to check all the loom to find any connector again but isn't easy...
About fiberglass: I worked a lot with composites in the past and I really don't think that cut that section could be bring any problems cause, in this case, the switch joins the two parts of the "C" you made once cutted and acts as a structural reinforcement
